Stacy Dymalski is a story editor, film producer, writer, and comedian. Author of THE MEMOIR MIDWIFE: NINE STEPS TO SELF-PUBLISHING YOUR BOOK, Stacy helps everyone from studio executives to everyday people find, write, and share their stories in the form of books and movies. She’s also the director, producer, and co-writer of the dark comedy feature film JUPITER LANDING, and the author of the bestselling humor book, CONFESSIONS OF A BAND GEEK MOM. Stacy is currently working on her new comedy solo show A BIT MUCH, which premieres in 2019 at Solo Fest, and then goes of tour after that.

What do you love most about Your City?

The diversity and culture.  I live in Hollywood and on any given night or weekend you can go to a concert in a world class venue like the Hollywood Bowl, an art gallery, a museum special event, a retrospective screening of a classic movie, a roof top bar, a cultural fair, a fusion restaurant, a Broadway play, an entertainment industry party, and plenty more that I can’t think of off the top of my head. How much you get into the groove of the city is entirely up to you. I love that.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

The Bronson breakfast plate at The Beachwood Café. The restaurant is just down the street from where I live, so I can walk to there. The food is wonderful and the people-watching is even better. I also love to go there to grab a coffee and write.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – I’m in bed.

10:00 AM - It could be a number of things; meeting with clients, returning phone calls, working on social media or walking my dog (Chico the Chihuahua).

12:00 PM - Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?

I have two favorite places I like to “power lunch” (or “power breakfast”). The first is Hugo’s in West Hollywood on Santa Monica Blvd. They have healthy, delicious food, and no one expects to see or be seen there. It’s cozy, yet very unpretentious. The second is Republique on La Brea. They have the best quiches and grain bowls. Plus, I love the European vibe and the employees that take your order are extremely helpful and courteous. I meet my attorney there often for meetings.

7:00 PM - If I’m home, I’m making dinner. I love to cook. And then after dinner I’ll read or write. If I’m not home, I might be out for dinner with friends. Or I might be attending a panel discussion at the WGA. Or I might be at the Arclight on Sunset watching a movie. Or I might be at a play.

11:00 PM – Depends on the night; Possibly I’m at a comedy club either doing standup myself, or watching my friends do their schtick. Or I might be catching some jazz at the Baked Potato in Studio City. Or I might be home streaming Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon on my computer. Rarely will I be in bed at this hour.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

Water. Lots of water. I drink at least a gallon of water a day.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

By far my most used app is Uber. I hardly drive anymore. I either walk or Uber. I have a car, but only use it when I leave my neighborhood. I also love Pandora, Scanner Pro (I can scan docs from my phone), and Call Protect (screens unwanted telemarketer and spam calls). My favorite Instagram account is my son’s, Derrick Dymalski. He’s a profession sax player and sits in with many pro bands. He also has his own band (World Peace Ensemble), so he has a lot of fun posts.

What should everyone try at least once?

Toast with a glass of champagne at the second level of the Eiffel Tower (2ème étage de la Tour Eiffel) with someone you love.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

The California Coast. I love driving up the Pacific Coast Highway and exploring all the little towns. My goal is to someday start at San Diego and end in Seattle, driving up the coast the whole way, stopping at every little watering-hole to take in the local cuisine, culture, and beautiful scenery.
