Derek Webb, former CEO of Webb Asset Management, lost almost everything in the crash of 2008. The shake-up forced him to reevaluate his priorities and reinvent himself. After much introspection, Derek decided that he wanted to get out of the world of finance and instead devote himself to restoring historic event venues, places where people could potentially disconnect from the modern world in an idyllic setting. Derek believed that, like him, people were starving for authentic experiences in a world that is increasingly driven by technology. Located on the Mendocino Coast, about three hours north of San Francisco, Derek bought Spring Ranch first, in 2000 (and opened it in 2010). Next up was Triple S Ranch in Napa Valley, which Derek bought in 2011 and opened in 2015. Both properties were essentially in ruins at the time of purchase. Derek devoted himself to restoring them to their former glory – and then some – sourcing period appropriate architectural salvage and antiques from around the world, including a Victorian barn that he shipped piece by piece from Canada to add to Spring Ranch’s grounds
