Amy Wolfe: Yoga/Pilates Teacher

Born and raised in Mexico City, Amy Wolfe first fell in love with yoga at the age of fifteen. It wasn't, however, until Amy's second year at NYU School of Law that she began to understand its power. After graduating from law school and very confused about her life's next step, Amy listened to a growing desire to deepen her own connection with her body and breath by enrolling in a 200-hour Teacher Training Program. Finding courage through her practice, Amy promptly decided to ditch a career in a law for one in health, mindfulness, and wellness. Eager to learn more about the body, Amy has since completed additional trainings, including Prenatal Yoga, Meditation, Yoga Nidra, and Mat & Reformer Pilates.

What do you love most about Your City?

Its abundance. Whether it’s plays, or restaurants, or people, there’s always something or someone that will broaden your horizons.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

Tough. I’d have to say oatmeal – I make it with almond milk, half a banana, half of an apple, cinnamon, a bit of vanilla extract, and a dash of salt. Sometimes I go crazy and put some almond butter in it too. It’s quite delicious.

My favorite restaurant is probably Via Carota – can’t beat good pasta and delightful vegetables (and the wine!).

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Typically still sleeping, but just about ready to wake up

10:00 AM – Really varies by day, because my schedule is always in flux. I’m usually either practicing or teaching yoga.

12:00 PM - Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

I almost always bring my own lunch. I’m a big believer in the benefits of making your own food (emotional and physical), and I make it happen. You’ll generally see me rocking a kale salad (this week it had squash, lentils, tomatoes, avocado, roasted beets, and almonds) in the park (I’ll admit, sometimes on the subway – a girl’s gotta make it work).

7:00 PM -  I’m usually wrapping up work, or making dinner at home.

11:00 PM -  I’ve been asleep for at least 45 minutes.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

My morning definitely starts with a cup of strong coffee with a splash of almond milk. I mostly do water during the late morning and early afternoon. Around 4pm or so – depending on the season – I’ll either get a kombucha or an earl grey tea with steamed almond milk. And yes, most evenings I’ll have a glass (or two) of red win with dinner.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

Citibike is by far my most used app. It’s literally the greatest.

What should everyone try at least once?

Chocolate cake. And jumping butt naked into a cold lake.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

Literally? In new cities when I travel. When I don’t have an agenda or anywhere to be, I love to just roam and find what I find. The universe can really be so magical. Figuratively? On my yoga mat.
