My Goal of the Day:  To get as much work done this morning so I don’t have any time pressure in the next few weeks.  Also to finish it before noon so I can relax some the rest of the day

My Thought of the Day:  All things considered, I’m a pretty lucky guy

My Action of the Day:  Getting the laundry, cat litter, grocery shopping, and dishes done before my wife comes home from seeing her grandchildren so that I can pretend the place looked this good the whole time she was away.

What do you love most about Your City?

It (Guilford, CT) is actually a small town on the shores of Long Island Sound and it has such a variety of nice features – the ocean beaches, the old colonial houses, the hills and lakes farther north; close to urban centers but in the middle of farm country all at the same time.  Pretty unique place.  And the fall colors right now…

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

This is easy:  Brownstone Restaurant in Guilford town.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM –  Trying to get back to sleep but knowing I won’t

10:00 AM -  Starting on my 5th cup of Peet’s coffee, or driving to teach my class at Yale, depending on the day

12:00 PM - Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

When at Yale I like to get the sushi take-out at Good Nature Market on Whitney Avenue (just a mile from where Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin).

7:00 PM -  Watching Jeopardy with my family.

11:00 PM – None of your damn business!

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

Coffee (4 or 5 strong cups) in the morning – from Peet’s of Berkeley and the K-Cup method; one Diet Pepsi in the afternoon and two if no one sees me.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

For six months of the year the ESPN Fantasy Baseball and CBS Fantasy Baseball Apps – I manage over 20 teams a year; in the off-season I play a lot of chess on lichess.com

What should everyone try at least once?

Raw Oysters – or Escargot – amazing how many people I know go “ewww” when they’ve never tried them.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

In a big museum such as Metropolitan in New York or British Museum in London; or any good history book on my lap at home.

My Deed of the Day -- Steering eager applicants to psychology graduate schools to the program that fits their interests and life goals the best.

My Tip of the Day --  For everyone you talk to and interact with today: Look right at them while they are speaking, listen to them, just focus on them and don't think about anything else at the time -- and see what happens.
