I am Tara Deal Rochford. I have a huge passion for experimenting in the kitchen, living an active life, and pursuing my dreams. As an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor, and Les Mills Certified Body Pump/CXWORX Instructor, I love teaching group fitness classes and being physically active every day. My blog follows my life, my studies to become a Registered Dietitian, and my interests in fitness, mostly healthy food, family, friends, and living a well-balanced and healthy life.
My Goal of the Day: My goal of the day really depends on the day. Today, I had morning meetings with clients for nutrition consulting so my goal was to educate, inspire, and provide actionable resources allowing these individuals to accomplish their goals and really thrive.
My Thought of the Day: Comparison is totally normal.
I often find myself comparing my success or accomplishments to others that are more established and achieving their own success, and honestly it can get me feeling a little down. Recently, I’ve come to terms with the fact that comparison is absolutely normal and part of what makes us human. Being aware of this allows me to notice how I’m feeling, acknowledge that emotion and then move on to more productive and positive things.
My Action of the Day: My action of the day is to listen to the messages my body is sending and try to honor those messages the best I can.
My Pic of the Day:
A Day in My Life:
What do you love most about Your City?
I love that Indianapolis is a growing city and that my husband and I are close to our families. It has been fun to see neighborhoods undergo redevelopment and new businesses, restaurants and boutiques open. It’s also home to our alma mater, Butler University!
Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?
A favorite restaurant in Indianapolis for breakfast is Rize – I love their Chia Bowl. Typically, I eat breakfast at home.
What are you doing at:
6:00 AM – Most days I am at the gym. I really feel my best when I start my day with movement.
10:00 AM – Today I was meeting with a client for nutrition counseling.
12:00 PM - Favorite Lunch spot/meal? I typically eat a similar lunch most days because it’s easy to prep ahead. I love cold lunches rather than hot meals or reheated leftovers – just personal preference. My lunch is typically greens topped with whole grains like brown rice or quinoa that I prepped over the weekend, roasted veggies I prepped over the weekend, chickpeas, raw vegetables and some form of protein (tuna, hard boiled eggs, and baked chicken are usually my go-to). If I’m going out to lunch, I love building a delicious bowl at the Whole Foods salad bar!
7:00 PM - By this time, it is usually after dinner so my husband and I are either walking our dogs (we have two vizslas) or getting ready to watch a television show as we wind down for the night. Lately, we have been loving the show Parenthood.
11:00 PM – I am almost always fast asleep! Early to bed, early to rise for me!
What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?
I always start and end my day with water, and drink LOTS throughout the day. I also enjoy a cup of coffee or two – preferably my homemade cold brew or an almond milk latte.
Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?
Most used app is Instagram, but I’m not sure I have one favorite account. I follow TONS of other bloggers, dietitians, and people who love food so I have lots of delicious food to look at throughout the day
What should everyone try at least once?
Meditation. When I have meditation in my routine, I am able to be a better version of myself. It’s not something that comes easy for me, it’s really hard for me to sit still and stop making mental lists, so it’s something I have to constantly remind myself to do. That being said, I notice a difference in my attitude and mood after just a couple of sessions.
Where do you enjoy getting lost?
Anywhere while traveling. I love traveling with my husband and exploring new-to-us places!
