My NativeAdVert:

Matt Belknap is a Grammy-award winning producer and a pioneer in the world of podcasting. He has produced and co-hosted the acclaimed Never Not Funny podcast with Jimmy Pardo since 2006 and co-founded the all-comedy record label ASPECIALTHING RECORDS the following year. In 2011 he co-founded the podcast hosting platform ART19, which now hosts many of the most popular podcasts in the world. He lives in Burbank, California with his wife Elise and his children Zoe and Charlie.

My Goal of the Day: Make my wife and kids laugh. Branch out from there.

My Thought of the Day: Simple and stripped down is almost always better. (Or: if it needs to be dressed up, examine why.)

My Action of the Day: Press record.

My Deed of the Day: Stay engaged, even when it hurts.

My Tip of the Day: Obsess over the tools you choose to use right up until you’re ready to start, then don’t give them another thought. The best tools disappear while in use.

My Pic of the Day: Soccer practice at dusk (taken with my new obsession, the Sony A7 III mirrorless camera)

A Day in My Life:

What do you love most about Your City?

The energy of creative people making things all around you, all the time, because it’s what they love to do.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

I usually eat breakfast at home, two eggs over medium with bacon. If I’m going to eat breakfast out: Papa’s Eggs with a side of fruit at Hugo’s in Studio City.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Sleeping, hopefully.

10:00 AM - Listening to a podcast in my car on the way to work.

12:00 PM - Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

Kurobuta Pork Belly Banh Mi salad style at Mendocino Farms.

7:00 PM - Making dinner for my kids, and sometimes also for my wife and myself.

11:00 PM - Catching up on the day’s news on my iPad (okay, mostly scrolling Instagram).

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

Nothin’ but water.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

I like how this question already knew that Instagram was my most-used app. (Apple Podcasts is a close second.) Favorite account: can’t pick one! I like @steveagee for his great photographs, @electrolemon his for musical comedy and @amazing_spidergram for his screengrabs of weird old comic book panels.

What should everyone try at least once?

Attending a live comedy show. It might just change your life!

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

In conversation with a friend.
