Evin Shutt: COO & Partner, 72andSunny

My NativeAdVert:

As the first employee of 72andSunny, Evin represents a significant piece of its foundation and keeps the company grounded by conserving its optimistic culture while scaling the business exponentially. Evin is responsible for helping further 72andSunny's mission to expand and diversify the creative class and continues to foster their long-term partnership with Da Vinci Schools, a Los Angeles-based network of charter schools, among other initiatives. At home, Evin and her husband are usually found trying to cheer on her beloved Green Bay Packers amongst the chaos of life with their twins and dog, Lambeau

A Day in My Life:

What do you love most about Your City?

The constant evolution of LA right now keeps me inspired. I love the growing identity, acceptance and inspiration amongst the different neighborhoods and ethnicities that make LA such a cool quilt of the world. And the beach.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

Cassidy’s Garden Veggie omelette from Good Stuff in Hermosa Beach, CA.

What are you oing at:

6:00 AM – Either trying to get out of bed without waking my kids or our dog who inevitably have come into our bed at night or I’m jumping in the shower after a workout - it depends what time I went to bed...

10:00 AM - Running between our buildings in LA and up/down the stairs to make it to my next meeting while texting someone.

12:00 PM - Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

Anywhere outside at any of our offices. Whether in LA, NYC, Amsterdam, Sydney or Singapore, we are super fortunate to have spaces to enjoy the world around us and breathe without stepping far from the office. It’s a complete recharger for me.

3:00 PM - Eating M&Ms. Apparently I’ve been tracked and I religiously scour for M&Ms at 3 pm each day. Ha!

7:00 PM - Work is on hold, dinner is finished, homework is complete and I get to be just play with my kids before bedtime.

11:00 PM - Intermittently checking emails, catching up with friends from afar on social media and watching YouTube tutorials on growing lavender, while trying to stay awake. Pretty much everything people who write books on efficiency say not to do.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

Morning: Chai Tea Latte - I really want to like coffee, but I just can’t do it.

End of Day: Water!... or a glass of red wine.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ instagram stories.  Wherever you sit politically, the way she’s documenting becoming a congresswoman and sharing the process and experience is really incredible, eye opening and educational.

Sarah Herron’s nonprofit, SheLift is doing so much good in the world. She worked at 72andSunny for years and I’m so inspired by what she’s creating and the impact she’s having on young women who have physical differences - from confidence building to physically climbing mountains. There’s good in the world - let’s support it and promote it!

What should everyone try at least once?

Attending a Packers’ game at Lambeau Field or just visiting Wisconsin. Some of the best, kindest people on Earth.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

In a good book by any body of water. My compulsive personality won’t let me put it down.
