Indian-born Radha Bharadwaj is an award-winning feature film writer- director. Bharadwaj has finished filming feature film, Space MOMs. The completed film, which Bharadwaj wrote and directed, will debut to the world in early 2019. It tells the story of the women engineers of India’s successful 2014 Mars Mission, capturing the truly extraordinary spirit of these seemingly ordinary women.
Bharadwaj’s screenwriting and directing feature debut is the psychological suspense Closet Land. Her screenplay won the Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship, and participated in the Sundance Screenwriting lab. The film starred Alan Rickman and Madeleine Stowe. Oscar-winning director Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment produced the feature, which was released by Universal Pictures. Philip Glass served as Creative Music Supervisor; Oscar-winner Eiko Ishioka designed the set. The film was featured at major film festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival and San Sebastian International Film Festival. Bharadwaj’s stage adaptation of Closet Land continues to be performed around the world.
My Goal of the Day: Do something creative (write, flesh out a plot, edit, direct or act) every day.
My Thought of the Day: Is gratitude for my amazing husband, mum, sister, friends—and the animals I live with and encounter.
My Action of the Day: Work—which because it’s my passion—is not work at all, but self-expression.
My Tip of the Day: Try to see non-human life forms as creatures that have an equal right to life and happiness.
My Pic of the Day: (any additional pic that expresses something special) I’m directing my script for Space MOMs, my feature film on India’s successful 2014 Mars Mission. I’ve been working on this project from 2014. When I finished filming, I learned that some powerful Bollywood Boys’ Club players are embarking on something that sounds awfully similar to my film. They had (unauthorized) access to my script. I am suing them for copyright infringement. Wish me luck: my victory would be one for all content-creators. #WeToo: (WE: Writers’ Empowerment).
