Delia Kosowicz: Founder, Bag Branch

Our founder, Delia Kosowicz, is a New York-based handbag designer. During one of her weekend getaways from the city, she swayed about on a hammock amidst the forest. As she looked up into the trees, she admired the grace with which their branches carried leaves. Mother nature has a simple, effortless way about her. Contemporary life seems anything but. Inspiration struck. Delia quickly got to work on solving this age-old problem challenging her and most other women—we never seem to have enough pockets. Our bags go everywhere with us, but to find things we want, when we need it, is near impossible. What goes in the black hole stays in the black hole. With Bag Branch, we offer your daily essentials the home base they deserve. Hope it brings you joy every day!

What do you love most about Your City?

Never-ending activities for kids.  I remember thinking at one point that I should move the suburbs so that my daughter has a good childhood.  Thankfully the thought didn’t stick. Raising my kid in NYC has been incredible.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

Since I start my day with a green smoothie, I often have my first meal at 11ish.  I love making brunch – my latest go-to is avocado, poached egg on top of a slice of (pre)baked sweet potato sprinkled with hemp seeds.  A recipe I picked up from one of my favorite neighborhood joints, Irving Farm.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Sleeping.

10:00 AM – Most likely answering emails or going for a coffee run.

12:00 PM – Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?

Hutch and Waldo on 82nd street.  Anything on the very small menu is amazing.

7:00 PM – Making dinner, having a glass of red wine, chatting with my teenage daughter while she’s doing homework in the kitchen.

11:00 PM – I like my sleep. I’m in bed by 10:30, hopefully in the middle of a good book.  Lights out by 11.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

Lots of water, green smoothie, coffee and a glass of red wine with dinner.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

Headspace keeps me sane and Google Maps helps me get to appointments on time.

What should everyone try at least once?

In New York we mostly walk TO and FROM places.  Recently I started going on hour-long aimless walks in the evenings.  It’s super relaxing and it gets me away from electronics since I leave my phone at home.  As a bonus I always end of up discovering something new in the neighborhood.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

I’m a map person – I like to know where I’m going and how long it’s going to take to get there.  But there is one place where I would happily leave the map at home – Le Marais in Paris in the spring.
