Kevin Tien is the two-time James Beard Foundation Award semifinalist and co-founder of alluring Petworth restaurant Himitsu.

What do you love most about Your City?

The sunset behind the national monuments is really breathtaking, it makes you feel so alive and gives me hope about America’s future.

Favorite Meal?  

My favorite meal would be at chiko, an order of dumplings and their wagshalls brisket rice makes any day great.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Im waking up and getting ready for an early morning run.  After my run Im walking the dog and getting ready to head to the restaurant.

10:00 AM - Im at the restaurant receiving deliveries and getting ready for the evening service.

12:00 PM - Im getting ready to make family meal for the team and going over our shift notes for the evening.

7:00 PM -  We are midservice and things are starting to get busy at the restaurant.  tickets are coming in and food is coming out.

11:00 PM - We are cleaning up, everyone has a shift drink in hand, and we are talking about service and what we can do to be better tomorrow.

Favorite Drink?

My go to drink is an aged rum old fashioned

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

I love going to the any of the museums in DC and just getting lost in the exhibits and art galleries.
