Jo Carr: Co-founder & Managing partner, Hope&Glory

Jo Carr is a co-founder and managing partner at Hope&Glory, one of the UK’s top Independent consumer PR shops. She started the agency with James Gordon-MacIntosh at the end of 2011 having previously worked with him at Omnicom-owned Seventy Seven PR, where she was also a managing partner. Jo has over twenty five years PR experience, including a long stint at UK consumer agency QBO before it was acquired by Chime Communications in 2001. She started her PR career in Hong Kong before moving to London in the late nineties and has spent her entire career working agency side. Currently she works with clients including IKEA, Uberi, Airbnb, O2, LinkedIn and Barclays. She is known as the voice of reason in the Hope&Glory office, and is good at keeping everyone calm under pressure, a skill she attributes to having two very boisterous sons at home.

What do you love most about Your City?

The sheer diversity of the place and the fact it never stands still.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

The avocado on toast at Caravan, a café on Granary Square near London’s King Cross.  It’s amazing.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Usually getting out of bed, although twice a week I’ll be with a Personal Trainer in a futile attempt to get fit and to squeeze some kind of exercise into my day

10:00 AM - Either in meetings with some of the wonderful clients we have at Hope&Glory, or at my desk trying to power through the “to do” list.

12:00 PM - Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?

Sadly, there just isn’t enough lunch being eaten these days – breakfast seems to have taken top spot as a time to network. However, if lunch is an option, I’m quite partial to The Ivy Brasserie (in Granary Square).

7:00 PM -  Either on the tube home, or with luck already at home with my two sons and husband, catching up on everyone’s day.

11:00 PM - If there isn’t a social or work event, then ideally this is the time I hit the sack.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

Copious cups of tea during the day and the occasional vodka, lime and soda at the end of the day.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

What should everyone try at least once?

Dancing as if no-one is watching

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

Richmond Park – so vast and green yet so close to Central London
