Ed Brooke: Head, Leith

Born and raised in London, Ed Brooke started his career working for Grey Integrated, one of the first full service network agencies on the block. Here he cut his teeth on everything from packaging, design, promotions, pr, digital and advertising for global clients such as British Airways, Avis, Canon and P&G.

Much to the surprise of his friends and family he and Mrs B moved to Edinburgh aged 30 and for the last 15 years Ed has worked at Leith – Scotland’s leading agency – which he now heads up.

What do you love most about Your City?

That such a jaw droppingly beautiful city can be full of the most down to earth and lovely folk I’ve come across.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

I don’t do breakfast but always pop into The Shore Deli for a decent coffee en route into work which is a short 25 min walk from home.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Sleeping.

10:00 AM – Getting stuck into the meaty matters of the day having cleared up all my emails.

12:00 PM - Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?

I think if I used the term Power Lunch I’d be laughed out of town. Generally it’s the genial Cameron @ Relish providing me with a sarnie/salad/soup or very occasionally a client lunch at The Shore, a delightfully down to earth and excellent restaurant on the water here in Leith (the docks of Edinburgh)

7:00 PM -  Probably just arriving home having trotted up Leith Walk (27 mins on the way back given it’s uphill) and giving Mrs B a hug.

11:00 PM – Sleeping.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

I guess what I drink during the day depends on what I drank at the end of it…

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

Whats’s App to keep in touch with the family.

@georgedawnay – a pal of mine from school who’s gone on to be one of the greatest artists, now based in Kentucky. Check him out.

What should everyone try at least once?

IRN-BRU. Scotland’s other national drink.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

I generally get lost in an island called Mull off the west coast of Scotland. It’s majestic and peaceful.

Walking or cycling around there is reason enough to have a heartbeat.
