My Native Admission Statement: I am a sound alchemist, women's research scientist, and the founder of multi award winning AlwaysPlay based in Los Angeles. I use sound vibrations and frequencies to help people get into states of meditation that helps with mood, focus, sleep, anxiety, and connection to self. I call this the cheater’s way to meditate! I’m heavily involved in the emotional and mental wellbeing of our day-to-day and intertwine both the science and the wOoO in my work. I love to play, nap, be in nature, and be in
How did you get into the industry?
I fell into sound baths after my own need to manage years of sleep troubles and anxiety. I happened upon sound baths at a music festival and decided that it looked like an awesome nap! It was the first time I experienced total calm in my mind and body, especially during a rough transitional time in my life. I took that feeling and starting to use sound frequencies to help me sleep. The more consistent I was, the bigger the differences I would see. I was feeling more calm, my mood better stabilized, and I’d carry around a little Tibetan bowl to chill out my friends too; they definitely felt the difference! From there, I began to study and found a whole scientific world of what sounds do for us. Two weeks after I left my research job, I was doing this full on.
Any emerging industry trends?
Our culture is tapping into more holistic methods of emotional and mental wellbeing, and that’s amazing. We’re giving more credit to ancient mindful practices and it’s great that we’re able to practice it in the modern world. As hip and trendy the sound bath scene might seem, this is a practice deeply rooted in neurological and biological science, and we’re totally making it an accessible practice for the super new as well as the super experienced.
Inspiration for the business idea, and your vision for the Business?
AlwaysPlay is just how it sounds, always play! It’s an idea that sometimes we’re caught up taking ourselves way too seriously. We’re busy people and we take pride in having no time. AlwaysPlay is the exact opposite – where being in the flow of play, enjoyment, and gratitude actually brings great things in our paths. Playing unleashes creativity, intuition, connection, joy, and so much more! When we tap into those particular vibrations, we can find that things start to align for us.
What's next for the Business in the near future?
We’re expanding sound bath meditations and Play workshops to corporate wellbeing programs, universities, and even bachelorette parties.
Ideal experience for a customer/client?
I love when those who have never experienced sound baths or play workshops come and have a totally woo experience. This is the best because sometimes there can be an expectation of what will happen or what the experience will be, but sound baths are totally unique to each person that’s experiencing it. The vibrations and frequencies will interact with you slightly differently than the next person. When someone can come in with even a skeptical mind and have their mind blown by a transformative experience, that’s pretty awesome.
How do you motivate others?
I believe that our limits are only created our mind. I love visualization and imagination exercises that help us draw wildly ambitious and preposterous futures, and we play ourselves into it.
Career advice to those in your industry?
When we’re in our own industry bubble, it’s easy to believe that the market is saturated and there isn’t enough space for you. That’s not true AT ALL. There’s always a way and always a need for your unique solution. Love what you do and don’t let the slow times discourage you.
