My Native Admission Statement: I love art, I love travel, I don’t afraid to step off my comfort zone, I challenge myself at work. After almost 5 years living here in US, I feel like I got another life experience and I know that I can do much more not just for myself, but for the society, future generation and a planet itself.  - https://www.tinaiaroshenko.com

How did you get into the industry?

I knew what I wanted to do in my life when I was 4 years old. My Dad used to take me with him every day after work (my mom worked till late, so he was the one who was babysitting me after the kindergarten hours). I saw Good Bad Ugly and Alien at that age and fall in love with this world of heroes and dreams. I started work when I was 12 to save money and move to the capital of Ukraine to study film. I typed my scripts and poem to get a scholarship on the old typing machine and my fingers were all in callus because of that, but I didn't have a computer at that time. Eventually I got my scholarship and my dream to get into the film school in Kyiv. I worked evening, night and weekends to pay rent and take care of myself.

Working on sets in Ukraine since I was 16, as a set dresser, PA, assistant of the director, editor, producer, screenwriter, set designer, video editor, director, creative producer, and much more. I moved from Ukraine to the USA just 4 years ago and my goal is to achieve the highest level possible in the industry. I know that all my previous experience made me extremely confident as a director to properly understand the process of collaboration with the rest of the team.

My Biggest Success?

I started my professional journey at seventeen years old as an assistant prop designer on the set of a big movie. Since then I created TV shows, directed movies and documentaries, music videos, fashion films, etc. I attended the workshops of many well regarded film makers such as, David Lynch, Steve Kaplan, Renata Litvinova… I was also awarded, “Best Script” for a Screenplay and “Best Short” movie I directed recently at the New Jersey Film Festival.

I created an art program for kids to learn all the basic of moviemaking process. I taught my first round of classes at the Bronx shelter and it was the best thing ever. Sixteen years of experience in the entertainment industry has provided me with abundance of knowledge in every step of production.

I was able to see first-hand the positive effects of providing children with an opportunity to explore a creative medium and how art and  process of creation can bring joy to kids in disadvantaged communities. The program was tested successfully and I’m really happy with the results:)

It's not easy for kids to tell their stories by expressing them in art. They can try but often find themselves frustrated with the process and ultimately giving up. Kids are also naturally apprehensive with the prospect of being creative in front of others and are self-conscious. I think it is vitally important to allow children an opportunity and outlet where they can safely grow and express themselves creatively. It is important to allow them to try on different characters (of their own creation) and I promise, you will see their progress in a matter of weeks.
