My Native Admission Statement: A unique combination of heart & grit, call me the connector. I’ve shaped my life around my experiences utilizing them to inspire me to create ideas, opportunities, and community.  I have a love for challenge and pursuit to find the joy  & lessons learned thru them, which would explain why after a decade of running one company I’ve decided hey, why not start another. Throw in a few marathons & triathlons in the mix and well, you have the full blown circus. - http://thesocietyx.com/

How did you get into the industry?

I initially started working in the music business with aspirations of being A & R and quickly realized that dream could be possible but with no personal life, limited financial growth amongst other factors… So with no money I quit my job and showed up at my Dad's office and said “ hey can I crash here for a bit until I figure out what I'm going to do.” My dad was in real estate and I vowed I would never get into that business, I wasn’t a saleswomen in that sense and had no drive or interest. I decided I needed to find an edge and I started the RoseMark Group which specialized in athlete relocation and working with celebrities and HNW individuals . It was an incredible success and I was able to connect the dots between sports & music which was my passion but I still wasn’t fulfilled. I started throwing events to attract more clients and marketing for the company and saw the need for a platform that was driven by creating community with a conscious and the rest is history... SocietyX was born.

Inspiration for the business idea, and your vision for the Business?

I started working out of my apartment a few years ago, I couldn’t continue seeing my hard earned money go to my apartment rent and also an every increasing office rent especially when my staff is never in the office. Co-working is just as expensive & unaffordable, it offers nothing but a basic shell just a white vanilla space of blah. Many people I interact with also choose to work from home or if they do make a choice to pay for something else its usually a membership based club which is great for hosting guests  & meetings but loud to work with minimal amenities to interact with others.  I figured theres a need for something more , something of substance and what about outside of the city ?? What are people doing, where are they working  ? what are their options ? and what I found was nothing ….  SocietyX will revolutionize the way work work, play, and give back to our community .As more millennials move outside of cities to places of affordability that’s where we will be. We not only offer an experiential every changing environment for people to work but also a platform for  exponential economic growth.

What's next for the Business in the near future?

SocietyX is currently raising capital for our first membership based co-working space location in Edgewater NJ. Our goal is to be opened in fall 2020. A floating vessel, we will be located 300ft out into the Hudson river with unprecedented 360 views.  Our 300 ft covered pier will be open to the public and feature street artists around the world, think Wynwood wall vibes . In the meantime we have an array of upcoming event SocietyXArt basel In Miami SocietyXGames in Aspen featuring live concerts, food & art i'm all about experiential events !!

Your key initiatives for the success of the Business?

SocietyX is all about building its community organically. I can’t express enough how important of a marketing strategy that is for long term retention. From our experiential events, community volunteering, & entrepreneur meet up groups people want to be apart of the movement and feel empowered and inspired from their interaction with it. Because of this were able to land partnerships and sponsorships with companies like LVHM, Whole Foods, Barton G, Mastercard, etc

Career advice to those in your industry?

Be humble, if you think you have a good idea test it. Be open to feedback and make sure the people your asking for that feedback are people that have had some sort of success themselves. Don’t be scared to ask for help and guidance, its actually the best way to get experience. Know your conscious, if its not working out and going anywhere know when its time to walk away . Nothing is free or easy put in the time put in the work,  someone once told me it takes 4 years to get situated and another 4 years to get on the map that’s 8 years and you know what that’s exactly the truth.

Startup wise, I love listening to podcasts like Y combinator. I highly suggesting finding a mentor that can guide you thru the process, and if you don’t have the resources to find, call me.

What do I do best?

I’m good at reading people and circumstances and calibrating accordingly – know your audience

What makes me the best version of myself?

My dreams & Perseverance . Dreams are important because they are exponential they put you in places and situations that you can aspire to. Perseverance because no matter what once I put my mind to something nothing can stop me

My Biggest Success?

Ahhh ….. I haven’t achieved it yet!  But for now, I would have to say running 2 marathons in 60 days. It was mentally my  biggest success and exhilarating.

My Most Challenging Moment?

Seeing my mom get sick and pass within 75 days. Death is a really funny thing, It was my first time going thru someones last days in life and struggle to accept it. It was the darkest, honest, heart-wrenching, impactful time of my life. I discovered a lot about myself and had to really dig deep to come out on the other side of it. I was foggy, lost, helpless, depressed, and lonely it was a rollercoaster ride and I had to find ways to cope with my grief and find my way again. Running and deciding to do my first marathon was a great way to start my healing process and gave me time to reflect. That’s when I had my ahah moment of realizing I wasn’t totally fulfilled with what I was doing, and decided it was time to take some risks to figure that out.

My Motto?

Stay strong, stay focused, love unconditionally, don’t take it personally & don’t you dare stop dreaming!

I’m also realizing how important keeping your energy is! So many times we are emotionally drained I urge myself everyday to stay focused on the goal, don’t get distracted but situations you can’t control. Eyes on the prize!!

My Favorite People/Role Models?

My mom – she was mighty mouse she did so much and quietly & My dad – I bother him with everything all the time, he is my backbone, they both saved my life! My favorite people has to be my core friends group. We call ourselves the UN and we pretty much cover all the bases when it comes to race, color, religion, sexual preference etc. This group supports me and loves me for who I am. I trust them unconditionally, I know I can rely on them at anytime. I’m constantly inspired by how everyone in the group is always willing to drop and coordinate to see what we can do to help. It’s special.

My Current Passions?

I love volunteering and always thinking of new ways to give back. I just started an art mural initiative in Newark NJ., we just finished our first mural last week I'm excited for the next. Otherwise I love working out and learning about new cultures and how could I forget I’m passionate about eating!

My Daily Thoughts:
