Steven Allen: Creator of Prillen & film series Childlike

My NativeAdVantage:

Bio:

Steven Allen is the creator of Prillen and the new film series Childlike. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, he discovered his passion for art at the age of five, when he began pursuing theater. Over the years, he worked on developing his versatility through a variety of roles. In addition to acting, he had a desire for singing and flexed these muscles in various musicals.

In ninth grade, he became invested in playing the piano and began taking classical lessons. Two years later, he added the guitar to his musical journey and started to write his own songs. After three years at The University of Pennsylvania, he completed his undergraduate education by graduating one year early with the Class of 2011. He majored in Cinema Studies and minored in both Music and English. He created CastlePrillen Productions, now called Prillen, his sophomore year to soothe his acting bug, with shows like Spruce Street and Charlie Time airing on YouTube.

He started painting in early 2013, and started designing clothing later that year. Currently, he is raising money through Kickstarter for a film series he is producing, Childlike. It is scheduled to be released at the end of this year, 2015. You can follow his creative journey on his website: prillen.com

What’s Your NativeAdVantage:

What do you do best?

I think what I do best is making art because it makes me happy. I guess I didn’t always know it made me happy; it was just something I always had to do in some form. It has always been there for me, through the good and the bad. I am so happy to work on the film series Childlike because I get to exercise many of my creative muscles: writing, acting, directing, painting, editing, singing, composing, designing, and more.

What makes you the best?

What makes me the best is not being afraid of making mistakes and when making mistakes, learning from them. That and never giving up. But when I do feel like giving up, I get up, take a deep breath, and keep pushing forward.

How will you become the best?

I will become the best by continuing to do what I love to do, which is creating art.
