Keoni Boyer: Chief Concierge of Knickerbocker Hotel

My NativeAdVantage:

Keoni Boyer is the Chef Concierge at the newly opened Knickerbocker in the heart of Times Square.  Prior to this he was a concierge at the Ritz Carlton Central Park, Chef Concierge at the Gansevoort Meatpacking, and concierge at the W New York and Intercontinental, The Barclay.  He comes from a large family and in which he has always had a role as a caretaker.  He is active both in the New York City Association of Hotel Concierges where he served as a Board Member and Les Clefs d’Or, USA.

What’s Your NativeAdVantage:

What do you do best?

As a concierge, since you really have to be good at many things all at the same time, organization is key.  Also, being able to clearly see the big picture and act on things accordingly takes high priority.

What makes you the best?

I personally don’t subscribe to a theory of a “best” concierge.  Our Les Clefs d’Or, USA motto is “In Service Through Friendship” and you really use those concierge connections as an extension of your team to better serve your guests, wherever you or they may be.  I can say a Les Clefs d’Or concierge is the best concierge.

How will you become the best?

This is continuous, and really, it is why I think we are here.  To be the best person you can be every day.  Whether it’s a Concierge, General Manager, Salesperson or whatever.  I love being a concierge because I can get up every day and have the opportunity to make a positive impact on a guest’s life.  To do that takes preparation, studying and having a fantastic team.

What are your aspirations?

Personal: I would like to retire somewhere warm and will most likely be involved in hospitality in some form or another.  It is in my blood.

Business: I would like to continue to develop great teams, teach and become more involved in our national and international associations.

I want more guitars although I definitely do not need them.

I have been involved in music since I was young.  I would like to a better guitar, ukulele and piano player.  I also love playing soccer, but I’m starting to get a lot slower than I used to be.
