Ali Abdullah: Founder & CEO at Claim it!

My NativeAdVantage:

Ali Abdullah, Founder/CEO at Claim it! A former software developer for the Clinton Foundation and Google, Ali Abdullah realized there was an opportunity hidden in plain sight after being inspired by the rise of daily deal sites such as Groupon and Living Social. The idea that everyone loves “free” moved him to create Claim it! Far from the benefactor of a life without struggle although born to Ivy League parents, Ali has endured divorce and homelessness. Despite his family’s challenges Ali remained persistent and it has paid off. Ali also mentors and teaches computer science as an adjunct professor at the City University of New York.

What do you do best?

Some say I have a unique ability to innovate and bring ideas to life. Whether building product, developing business partnerships or presenting - I however, like to think my best skill is being a ‘good listener’. I’m fortunate enough to have an amazing group of co-founders and a set of mentors/advisers who I can learn from everyday.

What makes you the best?

My best is shown when a small group of smart creatives can build product and bet against a world that behaves as if natural resources are infinite and go against the economic thinking that tells you that growth is the only way forward.

How will you stay the best?

Bill Clinton once told me in order to succeed “I must keep my head down and advance without worrying about anyone’s opinion”. These words will forever remain with me.

What are your aspirations: business & personal?

Personal: A happy and healthy family

Business: Build a successful company that can one day change the world.

What fascinates you?

I’d say the accelerated learning of children. I have a 5 years old daughter who can dance, write code and send messages from her iPad that’s pretty breathtaking. It’s like chatting with an adult! Having conversations with her via text is probably the most fascinating thing in the world.
