My NativeAdVantage: Founder & All Around Hat Wearer, The Grain-Free Nola Bar
Four years ago, after decades spent dealing with severe digestive issues, Jordan was introduced to the Paleo diet. She began to overhaul her eating habits by eliminating disruptive grains, dairy, corn, refined sugars and legumes from her diet and MAGIC happened, her pain and food issues disappeared! But for a girl who loves to bake, her new lifestyle seemed both a blessing and a curse. So she took to her kitchen in search of healthy alternatives and fell, head over heels, with a snack chock full of good-for-you ingredients. After hundreds of iterations, a family move from her home of Toronto to San Francisco, and a 180 degree career switch from the fashion world (she was an editor at Canada's top fashion magazine), the grain-free Nola bar was truly born!
What do you do best?
Baking is one of my biggest loves, and when you do what you love you're bound to succeed! As a first-time entrepreneur, the other elements of the business can be a challenge, but creating new flavors and tweaking the tiniest little elements in our process to get closer and closer to perfection... that's my (all-natural) jam!
What makes you the best?
Smacking fear in the face! If you let it get to you, you'll never win. I get scared ALL the time and that will never change—each new step in building your business is a little terrifying (and equally exciting), but it's how you confront that silly notion of failing before you even try that truly matters.
How will you stay the best?
Staying on top is all about continuing to try, to innovate, to experiment and to be ok with the possibility of failure. That said, I also try to be as lean as possible until I'm pretty certain that something is going to work. I listen intently to my customers and never put all my (organic) eggs in one idea basket!
What are your aspirations: business & personal?
I always want to be someone my husband and future children can look up to and be proud of, and the same goes for my customers. I want to continue to create healthy, real food that people can feel good and guilt-free about eating and I want my business to always be a name you can trust. FAR too many snack companies end up cutting corners to make a profit and this comes at the cost of their consumers health.
What fascinates you?
How food can fix you. Going back to school for holistic nutrition is on my bucket list, but in the meantime I try and educate myself as much as possible through books and podcasts etc. It's incredible to me how changing your diet can change your world, from alleviating arthritis to helping cure cancer.
Ask yourself if what you're doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.

Most challenging moment?
Honestly, the most challenging part of owning a business so far has been to actually START. Once you push yourself out of the gate it's hard to let excuses get in your way.
Getting a call from the Wall Street Journal and having them feature Nola Bars was pretty bonkers... and the reception that the article received was beyond my wildest expectations. I felt pretty good about myself that week:)
