Originally from London, England, David Parnes brings English charm to the City of Angels. Co-founder of a premium real estate service company, Bond Street Partners, Parnes and his partner James Harris grossed over $120 million in sales and another $150 million in escrow in 2013 alone. After earning his Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Economics and Politics from the University of Manchester, Parnes began working at hedge fund before moving on to represent a private portfolio of real estate assets in Europe.
In 2013, the partners sold a listing on L.A.'s famous Melrose Place, home to boutiques of renowned designers Oscar De La Renta, Chloé and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's store, The Row. Also that year, Parnes was named one of "Hollywood's Top 25 Real Estate Agents" by The Hollywood Reporter and his most recent and personal project includes building a 4,200 square foot contemporary home in West Hollywood where he plans to live with his girlfriend, Adrian, and their two rescue Basset Hounds, Maxi and Bella. David is a huge animal lover and donates regularly to animal charities.
David and James have sold over $165m of real estate since 2014 and their sales volume is growing at a formidable pace year on year. Notable sales for 2015 include the famed Hustler store on Sunset Blvd, which they sold for $18.5m to their client - developer Zach Vella. Other notable sales include the $30m sale of 438 N Faring Road, a deal in which they represented both the buyer and the seller.
Additional celebrity sales include the sale of a promontory view property in Beverly Hills to NBA player Kris Humphries for $6.2m. Also they represented the buyer on a Hollywood Hills home that belonged to NFL star Reggie Bush.
What do you do best?
I solve problems by being creative. Sometimes to make a deal happen, it requires thinking outside the box and finding a solution that will work for all parties in the transaction. I believe my ability to think on my feet has really helped me.
What makes you the best?
I live my life on certain principles. Paramount to anything is honesty. Somebody once quoted to me: "The only court that doesn't need a judge is our conscience." This really stuck with me. For me, success is not just financial, it's also moral.
How will you stay the best?
By being true to myself and others and by setting goals and sticking to them.
Most challenging moment?
Leaving rehab 7 years ago and starting from scratch, sober.
What are your aspirations?
Personal: To be the best person I can be to my loved ones and to help and love as many animals as possible.
Business: To be able to say, when all is said and done, that I did my best and managed to inspire at least one person to fulfil their goals.
What fascinates you?
That things always work out exactly as they're supposed and for the best, even when I can't make sense of why something is happening in the moment. Sometimes my best results have come from failures. Last and favourite quote that I read somewhere : "Success is failure turned inside out."
Never give up!
