Rob Nelson is the cofounder, and CEO of Grow (grow.com), a cloud-based dashboard software company for small-to-medium sized businesses. Grow gives companies the ability to measure their key performance indicators on a real-time basis. The cloud-based Grow dashboard aggregates data from all internal reports and external systems - saving hours of time and giving CEOs and employees access to key data 24/7. The Grow dashboard transforms companies by making everyone data driven and focused on the score - improving employee accountability, collaboration, and morale. Grow's headquarters are in emerging tech hub, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Rob is an entrepreneur at heart and a technology enthusiast. Rob's previous company Logica was acquired by AFS in 2012. Rob holds a BS in Business Management from Utah Valley University. He has 5 kids and fly fishes frequently on the Provo River.
What do you do best?
I’m a product guy. I love discovering new innovations. I spend most of my time, driving the product roadmap and removing obstacles for our team to be successful.
What makes you the best?
At Grow, we are probably the best at making it very simple to access your company data, visualize it, and build a real-time scoreboard to engage your team with. Our competitive advantage is simplicity. There are tools far more sophisticated than ours but we emphasize simplicity and plan to win in our space with that mission.
How will you become the best?
We share the belief at Grow that to win, we have to serve customers, listen to their needs, and solve problems. We have to remain humble and service oriented to build solutions that solve real problems. If we can do that in a simple manner, we think we’re going to win in our space.
What are your aspirations?
Personal: I like the saying that no other success can compensate for failure in the home. The success of my family is my first priority and responsibility. With 5 kids, I’m a family man.
Business: We have big plans with Grow. We think we can revolutionize how small businesses are managed by using our product. We do have lofty revenue and valuation goals but what’s more important to us is to help business managers lead with confidence by having real-time access to data. When companies are data driven, accountability increases, execution becomes better, and teams have more fun.
What fascinates you?
I love technology. I’ve always been fascinated by it. I like the laws/principles that govern it. I’m also fascinated by the emotional connection products can give. I love the creativity of building a product and company. It’s like art.
On a personal side I really enjoy fly fishing. That fascinates me. Different bug hatches, weather patterns that effect it, presentation of the fly to the fish, etc. It’s also like art.

My wife is #1. We have a lot of fun together. We both literally live for our weekly date nights. Outside of her, I love talking to people who are open, honest and vulnerable.
Maui is my favorite place on earth. I go as often as I can.
My favorite product right now is probably my electric beach cruiser bike. I take it everywhere. I keep a few at the office. I literally have meetings with employees as we ride up the canyon together. It beats a stale conference room. When I get home, we’ll ride with the kids to get ice cream.
