Stefano Lodi is General Manager at The Wellesley in London’s Knightsbridge. He has held this position since the hotel opened in December 2012. Prior to this appointment, Stefano was the General Manager and Resident Manager at Ten Manchester Street Hotel in London’s Marylebone, spanning across four years.
Stefano has worked in the London hotel industry since 2003. His roles have included Duty Manager at The Howard Hotel, part of the Swissotel corporation, and Guest Relations Manager at the Mandeville Hotel in Mayfair. Before this stage in his career, Stefano worked as a Fusilier Corporal Instructor as part of the Alpine Troops. Stefano studied at international schools in Bucharest, Romania and in Rabat, Morocco before completing a Business Tourism degree at the University of Bologna and masters in Hospitality Management at Cornell University, USA.
What do you do best?
Being a 36 bedroom luxury boutique hotel, we exceed in anticipating our guests' needs. This is something that our guests incredibly appreciate.
What makes you the best?
Again, the highly personalized service we provide to our guests.
We are a young, independent hotel competing with much bigger and well known brands. After not even 3 years, it is incredible to see the Wellesley reputation constantly growing.
What are your aspirations?
Personal: Better management of work/personal life
Business: Creating an even stronger team in order to further increasing our level of service
Most challenging moment?
The pre opening of the hotel, in December 2012. It was very busy!
