What do you do best?
I make the best salads. I teach the best full, energetic and pranayama-filled classes (not every time, but sometimes). I am the best at greeting our students and welcoming them into our space, at watering the plants and at making sure the studio always smells good.
What makes you the best?
My work ethic and my relationships with my teachers make me the best. I am the best because I seek inspiration for my teaching and I push forward, professionally and personally. I don't sweat the small stuff and I try very hard not to waste time lamenting things that didn't work out.
What are your aspirations?
My dream is to live in Malibu with my beautiful family and animals and a big garden. For our business, I want 5 studios in LA, a fully functioning teacher training program, to be able to host my teachers in our spaces, to create a thriving community and to give people technique to make their own lives better, easier and more functional. I want to continue to develop my career, to build and expand our brand and to be able to give myself the life I want through my hard work.
Our Venice studio is my biggest success and proudest accomplishment. It gives me so much joy, confidence, identity and community. It fills me with gratitude and gives me purpose.
Most Challenging Moment?
My most challenging moments have come in the form of business setbacks. Partnerships that have fallen apart and laid heavily on my heart. I worked with friends and we had big dreams together and it just didn't work out. We all learned major lessons, but it was a brutal year for all of us. In business, contracts are a must, knowing your worth, and finding the right team is essential.
I have many mantras: I am at ease. I am highest self. I embody and act from my highest self. I use these when I literally have to talk some sense into myself :)
Favorite People/Role Models?
One of my favorite people is Krissy Jones, co-founder of Sky Ting. She inspires me with her sensibility and how she makes everything look easy. My role model is Nevine Michaan, founder of Katonah Yoga, my teacher and my source of inspiration. She embodies everything I want to be; she is magical, mystical, technical, practical and so graceful. Her teachings fill me with inspiration and make me feel so lucky and happy to be alive.
For 3 summers, I led yoga retreats on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, up on the most magical cliff with my favorite swimming cove in the entire world. This summer we had to cancel the retreat due to all of the things going on in Turkey and I felt so sad. This is a beautiful country with beautiful people and I hope to go back to this magical retreat center, pine tree lined cove, and perfect vistas again soon.
I loooooove products, self care, masking, the whole lot of it. Currently obsessed with May Lindstrom Honey Mud (truly decadent insane luxury) and also with everything Living Libations.
My passion is upping my technique. Studying the organization and machinery of the universe. Thinking about what I want, who I want to be and how I can potentiate it.
