Lauren is a NYC-based life coach and yoga instructor who works to align her students not only in their bodies, but in their minds and hearts. After many years in corporate finance, Lauren transitioned into a career in wellness nearly 7 years ago. She believes a good teacher is always a better student, and is constantly seeking more knowledge to share with her community.
Lauren is primarily a vinyasa teacher, but has experience and education in Ashtanga, meditation, restorative and trauma-sensitive yoga. She also earned a Masters degree in social work, and has thousands of hours working as a therapist. She aims to deliver a grounding, inspiring and fun mind-body experience in all of her classes with the intention to help her students uncover their deepest desires so that they can actualize them. Lauren believes that an unexamined life is often an inauthentic one, but it doesn’t have to be that way. You can be uniquely happy and fulfilled now.
Lauren teaches at Soho House, Equinox, Pure Yoga, and in many corporate offices. You can also catch Lauren in one of her many global retreats and workshops.
What do you do best?
I love with a full heart, and I give without expectation of return.
What makes you the best?
Helping others. When I see I have a real opportunity to make a difference in someone's life, I'm ALIVE.
What are your aspirations?
I've got a book or two in me. I need to start writing and speaking more. I've been focusing so much on the physical practice, and while this will always be important to me, it's just not my real power or gift. I look forward to redirecting my energy in a way that will be of optimal service to others - and that won't come in the form of a handstand or a shot of me in a bikini!
Overcoming my eating disorder. I still struggle with the desire for external approval and validation, but I can honestly say that I love my body now, not just for how it looks, but for what it does.
Most Challenging Moment?
Holding my mom's hand as she passed. There's nothing that compared to that moment, and while it was certainly the most devastating, I also consider it a real gift and blessing. I felt like I nursed her into the other side - wherever that may be.
Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. - Dr. Seuss
My dad, my brother and all the women in my tribe.
Los Angeles, Santa Teresa, and Tel Aviv.
I love Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer, Old Spice Deodorant (Yes, I wear men's deodorant!), and Cetaphil. I'm really not a girl that uses many products. An ex-boyfriend used to tease me, asking if I was using soap in the shower. Of course, I was - and my favorite kind is from Fresh or La Roche Pose, but I can only get that one in Europe. I'm a minimalist with products.
Restorative yoga, reading, meditation and travel, always travel.
