What do you do best?

Connect with people.

What makes you the best?

I love to learn and listen to people’s stories.  During my travels, I have found that a simple smile goes a long way and find it easy to strike up a conversation with someone at a coffee shop or yoga studio.  I believe that yoga helps to melt away outer layers of physical and mental stress, which helps people become present.  I come from a place of openness, compassion and understanding right from the beginning.  This has helped me to connect with people and make friends along my journey.

What are your aspirations?

To travel the world on a spiritual sabbatical, have a family, care for my loved ones while running a business that empowers people to live a life full of love, joy and purpose.  I would love to see the world become a harmonious place and invest in projects that help to heal our planet.  Oh, and adopt a dog or two.

Biggest Success?

Becoming a full time yoga teacher.  I worked in marketing for many years before deciding to leave the corporate world and pursue teaching full time.  It was a big step because I was uncertain if I could make enough money to live comfortably.  After about six months of working pretty hard, I was able to surpass the amount of money I made in corporate doing what I love, sharing the gift of yoga.  By letting go of my fears, I was able to embrace the ever-evolving flow of life and follow my heart down a path of healing and spiritual growth.

Most Challenging Moment?

There have been many – but one that stands out was dissolving a business I started with a friend of mine a few years ago.  We worked very hard on the project and put together all of the marketing materials to promote the service.  Then, circumstances arose where she needed to move back home and I was picking up momentum as a teacher.  It was tough because I was also leaving my corporate job at the time and had just ended a very loving relationship.  The losses seemed to come in 3 and I was really feeling the hit emotionally.  From there, I took a sabbatical to Australia and discovered a sense of peace and perspective.  I came back to the states feeling very refreshed a ready to start anew.  I call this my “butterfly year” because through the process, I kept reminding myself that a caterpillar must go through a metamorphosis, a transformation, of completely dissolving their body before they can grow and blossom into a beautiful, flying butterfly.
