Former Dancer turned Fitness professional Peri Hughes has a wealth of experience working with high profile clients in both Europe and the US to achieve and maintain their health & fitness goals. Peri has worked at some of the top Boutique Fitness Studios in both the UK and US. Holding the title of Master Trainer at Barrecore (London) before relocating to San Francisco, CA in 2014 and joining The Dailey Method Barre Fitness Studio. Peri assists The Dailey Method founder, Jill Dailey in the education and development of future and existing teachers and leads ongoing workshops, trainings and mentoring at The Dailey Method NorCal Studios. Peri is a certified Pilates Instructor and Pre and Post Natal Specialist through STOTT Pilates and Carolyn Anthony’s Center for Women’s Health. Peri has a keen interest in Nutrition and is always looking for new ways to expand her knowledge so she can better serve her clients. Peri has trained in Charles Poliquin’s Biosignature Modulation and under the CHEK Institute as a Holistic Lifestyle Coach.  Peri founded her own company PH Method earlier this year.  PH Method is a full body workout based on fundamental principles designed to create optimal physical, emotional and mental balance through movement. What do I do best?

I have a keen eye for detail and i am a planner. I curate my classes from movement, music to transition and flow with every last detail thoroughly thought out. During my classes i am constantly guiding my students back to correct form and alignment helping to educate them to workout smarter in my classes and for them to understand the process at the same time.

I believe i create a safe, supportive environment for all those i work with and work alongside. I genuinely care about people’s well being and am fully committed to helping individuals be the best versions of themselves physically, emotionally and mentally whether in a class i teach, in a workshop i lead or in day to day social interactions. I believe movement is a powerful tool to help people create balance in every aspect of their life i love nothing more than to share my journey and experiences of movement with my clients to help them create a life in ultimate balance.

What makes me the best version of myself?

I am fiercely dedicated to what i do, i am hardworking and self motivated. To me it doesn’t feel like work when i get to do what i love each day.

What are my aspirations?

In my personal life it is to be a great mom. I am 34 weeks pregnant with my first child and i  know that some of my biggest life challenges and successes are yet to come. But if i can impart on my child the love & support my parents gave to me then i know i am on the right track. In business it is to reach and connect as many people as possible with my method. Helping them create a life of balance through the power of movement.

My Biggest Success?

Relocating to San Francisco, California with my husband and setting up my own business PH Method. We relocated from London, England for my husbands work back in 2014. At the time i found it incredibly challenging leaving behind my family and friends and my career which i had spent years cultivating and building a network of clients. I am proud of myself that we made it all work out. I now have a successful career in fitness over here and have managed to rebuild a new network of clients from the ground up which inspired me in 2017 to then launch my own business.

My Most Challenging Moment?

One of my most challenging moments was when i made the decision to step away from my dance career and pursue a career in fitness. Now when i look back i can see it was the best decision of my life but during that time i held a lot of guilt and uncertainty around my decision. I had danced since the age of 3, dancing was the only world i knew. However, i could also see that i was no longer as happy as i used to be and that a change in my trajectory was needed to revitalise and re-inspire me. Dance will always have a place in my heart and now i am so fortunate to be able to marry my love of dance and movement with my passion to help others be their best selves.

My Motto?

‘How you do anything is how you do everything’

This is my personal mantra and i truly believe that how we react and respond to any of life's challenges, situations or experiences, no matter how big or small is how we respond and react to them all. We are in the driving seat of our life and the choices we make. We can choose to respond one way or we can make a choice to react in another. Every decision we make has a ripple effect through our life. If there is one area you are feeling stuck in, unmotivated or unsatisfied there is likely to be another area in life where you are feeling the same way. I strive to live each day with gratitude, compassion and kindness and a commitment to offer my best self to all those i surround myself with. I am definitely not perfect, by any stretch.  But each day i make a conscious decision to try to put my best foot forward.

My Favorite People/Role Models?

What inspires me the most is seeing fearless warrior women breaking down walls and barriers and achieving success in their fields against all odds. Misty Copeland is a is a huge inspiration for me with how she has diversified the Ballet world and broken the mold of what a Ballet Dancer ‘should’ look like. Her strength and grace is so inspiring to me and many other young women around the world.

My Favorite Places/Destinations?

My husband and i have been fortunate enough to travel to some incredible places over the years. One destination that stands out is The Monastero Santa Rosa on the Amalfi Coast in Italy where we stayed for part of our honeymoon. This hotel is so unique with incredible views of the Mediterranean Ocean. The hotel itself is a converted monastery cut into the cliff. They have beautiful garden terraces you can explore and the most indulgent spa i have ever been to. It’s our little piece of Italian heaven.  Another destination closer to our home in San Francisco is Yosemite National Park in California. Yosemite is truly a magical place. Driving through Yosemite Valley for the first time,  where rainbows cut through magnificent waterfalls and you have a vista of the giant mountains of Half dome, El Capitan and Glacier Point will always stay with me as one of the most incredible sights i have ever seen.

My Favorite Products/Objects?

For my skin i am loving Herbivore Botanicals, Jasmine Body Oil and Mario Badescu Rosewater & Aloe Facial Mist. Both of these products are great to rehydrate my skin between teaching classes. For my workouts i can’t be seen without my Yeti yoga mat which i use daily for my at home workout videos or my prenatal yoga classes. I am a big fan of the UK founded fitness clothing line Sweaty Betty. They have just opened their first store in San Francisco and on their launch day i treated myself to the new Luxe Gym Bag in Olive. This bag is so spacious with lots of compartments perfect for me when i am running around between teaching classes and clients and i think it has the potential be converted to a great diaper bag once the baby arrives!

My Current Passions?

At the moment pretty much all my focus is on getting our home ready for our new addition. I am enjoying nesting, creating a safe, warm and inviting environment for our baby and really making our apartment a home. I am also enjoying creating new Pregnancy workout videos for my clients and for my website blog. I have always been involved in Pre & Post Natal fitness but to experience fitness first hand in my pregnant body has been such a gift. I am thoroughly enjoying discovering each day what my body can still do and what i need to modify for a safe, yet effective pregnancy workout. The response from other pregnant women has been amazing and i am so happy i am able to give them the confidence to continue to workout while they are pregnant.
