What do I do best?
I am aggressively positive and a magnificent energy manipulator. I understand that everything is energy and I attract more of what I am. This means that everything I come in contact with throughout the day is continually in communication with my personal energy— the books I read, the media I ingest, the conversations I entertain, the friends I keep, the foods I eat. Because of this, I have mastered having integrity with my energy and teaching others how to do so too through food, movement and positive psychology!
What makes me the best version of myself?
The characteristic that has gotten me to where I am today is a relentless ‘inner knowing’ that I’ve leaned into all along, even when I had no idea what it was or why I should listen to it. As I’ve honed this inner knowing, I know what makes me the greatest version of myself— and that is everything that contributes to the clearest connection to my intuition! For me, this is lots of free-form dance, music, high vibration foods, loads of sleep, meditation and nourishing friendships.
What are my aspirations?
I’ve been a nurturer all of my life and my greatest aspiration is to be a Mom. My passion for guiding clients to core confidence is driven by a vision for a brighter tomorrow, one where my future children will see more community, partnership, freedom and global love. As we take ownership of ourselves and turn on our own lights, the possibility of changing longstanding (and damaging) paradigms doesn’t seem so impossible anymore.
I am full to the brim with fulfillment and purpose within my current personal life and my current business— my desires are to simply play bigger, take up more space, share the love & excitement I have for living with more people.
My Biggest Success?
I’ve had some strange ‘big successes’ in my career that make my resume look cool but left me feeling empty and unfulfilled. Truly, my greatest accomplishments have been moments of trusting my intuition even when they included confusing and painful transitions. In 2015, after living in New York City for a decade, I trusted my gut to leave everything and move home to live with my parents to figure out what was ‘next.’ To trust this message from within— which was telling me to wipe 10 years of networks, friends and family into a sinkhole to move home to live in a backroom of my parent’s home in rural New Hampshire— made very little logical sense. But once I *know* something I can’t un-know it, so within a week I broke up with my boyfriend, said goodbye to my whole life, packed up the car and moved.
The contrast of my New Hampshire bedroom to my New York City universe was staggering and painful. I made a pact to continue to listen and trust what I know to be true, and not give into cheap thrills like crappy food, texting old boyfriends and languishing in my pain by recounting my story’ Every time I was overcome with grief I’d lean in to meditation, healing foods, movement and positive psychology (amidst crying in a ball for hours each day). To my immense surprise and gratitude, everything shifted within a month and I’ve been on a wild ride teaching others the power of having integrity with your energy since!
Two years later I couldn’t ever have imagined the gorgeous life I lead in California, with the partner of my dreams, building our splendid life by the sea.
My Most Challenging Moment?
I’ve had a couple defining moments that knocked me to my knees but ultimately led me to exactly where I was supposed to be. In 2012 I was acting in New York City, working as the Communications Director for a nonprofit and had just published my first children’s book about the power of kindness. My boyfriend had traveled with his brother over Christmas and was to arrive back in NYC to change his bags, then leave with me to head to Mexico for a belated holiday celebration. I was 100% sure that I would get engaged on this trip (!!) and I could not believe my great fortune in getting an opportunity to have a whole week on the beach with my guy.
Long story short, 5 hours before our plane was to leave, my partner arrived home to switch his bags with tears in his eyes. He told me the vacation wasn’t happening, he didn’t want to be with me, he couldn’t explain more and I had to leave.
In my devastation, I received an email for Oprah & Deepak Chopra’s meditation challenge. I hadn’t ever meditated before, but I quickly noticed that I was free from the pain for a couple minutes during each meditation. Since I now had an open week off from work (and no Mexico trip) I booked plane tickets to a meditation retreat in the Bahamas and went alone.
Upon my arrival back to New York City 9 days later, I quit my jobs and enrolled in school for Mind-Body Transformational Psychology, the foundation of everything I now live and teach.
My motto is ‘this is the fun stuff.’ It reflects my philosophy that every obstacle and victory is here to serve our ultimate growth, instead of getting too tripped up with any of it, let’s just enjoy the ride. It’s easy to obsessed over hiccups on our path and this motto reminds me to pull the lens back and remember this is all part of the fun of being a Human.
My Favorite People/Role Models?
I have so many favorite role models and I feel like I stumble on new ones every day. My Memere and Pepere are some of the most loving souls I have ever met— both extending their time, energy and faith to everyone in the community. My Pepere passed just this year, but into his 90s (with stage 4 cancer!) he’d still lead Veteran services in our town, visit anyone and everyone in their homes/the hospital to lend a prayer or some laughs, and offer the wisest, brightest take on life. He is a true example of the power of perspective. My Memere is in her late 80s and continues to be a caretaker for the elderly (haha!).
Some of my other role models are Oprah, the 14th Dalai Lama, Elizabeth Gilbert, Marie Forleo, Marianne Williamson and Jonathan Safran Foer. These individuals have a palpable vivacity for life and I always feel uplifted just even hearing them speak.
My Favorite Places/Destinations?
The most beautiful place I’ve ever been is Bocas del Toro, a small private island in Panama. We hosted a wellness retreat there last year and conch shells the size of my head would wash ashore regularly. The beauty was so astounding that I couldn’t really digest it until I was back home again!
I live in San Diego and am moved to tears for the inherent gorgeousness of the West Coast. Each week I make it a point to go to my two favorite spots— the top of Cowle’s Mountain, the highest point in San Diego, and to a small, private beach in La Jolla.
Other than that, my king bed is my favorite spot!
My Favorite Products/Objects?
I have an obsession with plain carbonated water, I crave it all the time.
My favorite cuisine is Indian food and my favorite food is chickpeas.
My favorite facial products are Cocokind, I use the Matcha Stick and the Rose Water on my face 3x a day. I don’t feel the need to wear makeup anymore!
My most treasured possessions are my books. When I am involved with a new one it feels like an exciting, romantic relationship.
I purchase new flowers for our home every week ($3 from Trader Joe’s!) and they bring me overwhelming joy.
I light palo santo and aromatherapy candles every couple of hours to flood my home with sacred scents.
My Blendtec blender is the most used item in my kitchen, followed closely by my InstantPot.
My Current Passions?
The highlights of my week are working with clients over Skype and letting loose together, attending a modern dance class every Tuesday night, lots of beach trips and weekly hikes!
I am currently re-reading The Untethered Soul (Michael A. Singer) and Rise Sister Rise (Rebecca Campbell).
I am also currently a madwoman in the kitchen as my boyfriend is in Law School and I’ve now become the full-time chef ;-)
