1. What do I do best?
My commitment to medicine as an art form, dual training and board certifications paved my way to approach medicine and aesthetics in a meaningful way.
My philosophy on Form and Function means that each procedure I perform will be approached from both an aesthetic and structural perspective. “It’s not enough to perform a rhinoplasty and discover your patient still has a sinus problem or can’t breathe.” The emphasis is to appreciate the intimate relationship between how we look and how we feel. Nowhere is this more prevalent than in surgery of the nose and face, where how we breathe, how we look and scars really matter.
What makes me the best version of myself?
Passion and sensibility
Passion keeps me on my toes, always striving to do more and try new things. Sensibility helps me keep things in perspective, learning to notice and appreciate the here and now.
What are my aspirations?
Business: Choosing a doctor is one of the most important decisions you will make. It’s not hard to believe that patients who have a more personal relationship with their physician have better outcomes. Since its inception in 2010, the Center for Sinus, Sleep & Facial Plastic Surgery gained immediate popularity by word of mouth for our one-of-a-kind approach when it comes to sinus health, sleep and facial beauty. There is a lot going on in the head and neck, that’s why we keep an extremely specialized focus on the nose and face. Dubbed the “Best Kept Secret in Bergen County” patients are surprised to find a single physician who can peel away all the layers of sinus health, sleep, migraines and how they may affect beauty and aging. Whether its sinusitis and allergies worsening your migraines and leaving you looking tired, or its not being able to breathe through a crooked nose, Form & Function is at the heart of the solution.
My Biggest Success?
I was appointed one of the youngest Directors of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in the country for the prestigious Columbia University Medical Center. Combining niche talents of Form and Function was a new way of approaching the treatment of disorders of the nose and face.
The highlight of this achievement came early in my career in 2010 when I received the Maxwell Abramson Award for excellence in teaching. This award, chosen by the Columbia University resident physicians themselves, honors the most influential professor and mentor in their residency training experience.
My Most Challenging Moment?
Having children helped me appreciate that being a good parent is the toughest job. Learning to balance work, marriage and children helped me learn to live in the moment. Seeing life through their eyes, being there for the giggles and the smiles, and quality time is better than anything in the world.
"Always shoot for the moon, if you miss at least you will be among the stars."
My Favorite People/Role Models?
It took becoming a parent to truly understand just how amazing my parents are.
My parents immigrated to the US in their 20s and married as childhood sweethearts. They worked very hard and never looked back until they realized the American dream. They lived an exemplary life through example, finding privilege in the opportunity to work hard and prosper.
My Favorite Places/Destinations?
Our family visits Greece every year, a tradition not uncommon to many Greek families. One can’t help but enjoy the crystal blue waters of the Aegean Sea, the Mediterranean cuisine and the warmth of friends and family.
My Favorite Products/Objects?
Personal: Some girls collect shoes and purses, but I must admit I am obsessed with Wolford hosiery. I literally have hundreds. My fashion sense is pretty classic, so the last thing I need is another black skirt or dress. But nothing can change the look of an outfit or get noticed better than a stylish pair of Wolfords!
Medical: As a sinus doctor treating sick patients who sneeze on me routinely, you would think I have an iron-clad immune system. It wasn’t until I had kids, that I learned that my coat of armor was in fact fallible. By the time, they first started school, the whole house was getting sick all the time. We used to joke that we couldn’t stop ourselves from cuddling with our proverbial petrie dishes. That’s when I discovered the miracle cure most people have never even heard of: Black seed Cumin oil. Long used by ancient Egyptians for its healing properties, it is derived from the seeds of the Nigella Sativa flower with three key phytochemicals: thymoquinone, thymohydroquinone and thymol. These phytochemicals provide a natural supplement with antioxidants that boost the immune system, antibacterial and antiviral properties that help fight infections and antifungal properties that may help treat certain allergies. The best part is it comes in flavorless capsules and is easily available from trusted sources.
