What do you do best?
I'm a really amazing health coach! The women, men and companies I've supported over the years have all created a healthier life for themselves and the important people in their life. I receive notes of gratitude from my clients sharing stories on their achievements - promotions at work, their new babies, wearing clothes they feel confident in, or dancing at their children's weddings, etc. It's truly an honor to keep in touch with everyone and see how everything in their life keeps getting better and better once they made themselves and their health a priority.
What makes you the best?
I treat every single person in my life the way that I'd like to be treated. The older I get, the more important this has become in my personal life, but also in my business. We never know what someone else's experience may be at any certain time and it's really important to hear not only what the person is sharing with you, but what they might not be saying. Some say I have a strong intuition or a sixth sense, because many people in my life (especially my clients) always wonder how I know what they really want to share but might be afraid to or are unaware of what lies deeper. It really helps me get to the heart of the matter with my clients and it helps me support everyone in my life better.
What are your aspirations?
My husband and I would love to open a wellness retreat center someday in Nicaragua or Bali. He is an amazing chef so he would be in charge of cooking the healthy meals, and I'd be teaching yoga and creating wellness programs for our guests. In the meantime, I'm going to continue to build my business and reach as many women I can to support them in feeling healthy, confident and strong in their bodies so they can reach all their aspirations too!
Starting my own business! This has been the most exciting, challenging and scary thing I've ever done. It was completely out of my comfort zone to not have a boss, set my own hours and still have a steady income, but it has been the most exhilarating thing I've ever done! I'm really proud of myself.
Most Challenging Moment?
Recently, I've had issues with my thyroid after having a few miscarriages. It's been frustrating and challenging, but also helpful as I've been able to support other women who are also experiencing frustrations with their hormones. It has also reminded me about the importance of my own health as I've had to adapt my diet and make changes that are necessary to support my thyroid so I can continue to feel healthy and energized.
"What do you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" - Mary Oliver. I have had this quote either in my bedroom or office since college and it constantly reminds me to keep following my dreams and passions to the fullest every single day.
Favorite People/Role Models?
Strong women who care deeply about other people. My grandmother, who is almost 98 years old , worked full-time as a nurse and had five children; my mom; Alissa Viti, founder of Flo Living, Nicole Jardim, and all of my friends who constantly inspire me by following their dreams–they are writing books, being moms, becoming VP's at work and still have time to laugh with me!
I caught the travel bug when I was in college and I love exploring new places, meeting people, eating food and learning about different cultures. In the past few years, I've been lucky enough to visit India and Bali, and these trips have completely changed the way I thought about happiness. While we were in India, I was able to spend time with underprivileged children who also happened to be the happiest children I've ever met. It made me realize how much pressure we put on ourselves and our children to accumulate material things. It helped me realize the importance of community and having a strong sense of joy in our lives. Being in Bali and India reminded me to treasure how I feel more than what I have. Since these two trips, my husband and I have been trying to only add things into our lives that truly bring us joy. If they no longer bring happiness to us, we donate them. Our home only has items that bring us joy. I can't even begin to describe how freeing this feeling is!
I'm obsessed with my Nutri-Bullet! I love that I can throw tons of healthy things, like maca and cacao powder, greens and chia seeds, into the bullet and have a healthy and delicious smoothie in seconds. I also love raw cacao chocolate bars with sea salt, my Lululemon yoga mat and my pink Himalayan salt lamp.
Bringing wellness into the workplace! When I was in the corporate world in NYC, I could work 10-12 hours some days and I would be so burnt out at the end of the day yet still had horrible insomnia at night. I wished I had known easy ways to be healthier and to feel more relaxed during the day so my body would have stayed healthy instead of being sick all of the time. I really love spending time with different companies and bringing a wellness aspect to their company culture. It's amazing to see how small changes in the culture can create happier employees, who are not sick as often and enjoy their job. It's truly a beautiful thing that more and more companies are taking care of their employees with preventative health care at work and I'm very grateful to be part of it. I'm also a lover of chocolate and avocados.
