Hi, my name is Nicole Fulford! I am a professional surfer on the WSL Qualifying Series. I am 16 years old and go to Florida Virtual School. I spend my days surfing, working out, and doing school. I structure my days to help me achieve my goals, and I’m driven to being the best version of myself that I can possibly be.
What do I do best?
I’m best at giving 100% into whatever I do in life whether it’s working out, school, surfing, etc. I will give it my all.
What makes me the best version of myself?
I strive for my goals everyday and find motivation in myself. I strive to be the healthiest I can possibly be in fitness and nutrition, so there are no limitations when I’m surfing.
What are my aspirations?
My number 1 goal is to make the World Championship Tour and become a world champion. I also want to continue completing high school with straight A’s and continue into online college while I’m traveling the world.
My Biggest Success?
My biggest success in life has been finding my confidence I used to always look for my confidence in other people and wanting affirmation through them, but it’s just an endless pit that won’t make you happy no matter what people say. Confidence truly comes from within.
My Most Challenging Moment?
Right now has been one of the most challenging times in my life because everything I love to do in life requires me to be active and right now I’m recovering from hip surgery for 3 months. It’s been difficult adjusting to being more sedentary, but it has helped me reaffirm where I want my focus to lie. It’s really easy to get caught up in other things that take you off the path of your goal, but through being injured and having time to think and reflect I’m able to refocus on what is important to me. It has lit a new fire in me to be better than I ever was before.
I always say to myself, “It’s the little things.” For example, when I’m feeling unmotivated to workout or go surf, I say that to myself and think about that one workout or surf session could be my break through moment and that those little extra things that I do, add up and make a difference in my career.
My Favorite People/Role Models?
My Mom is probably the biggest role model in my life. She has always kept me on the right track and had my best interest at heart. Emily Hayden is a bikini competitor that I found on instagram that has an unfathomable determination that I admire and find inspiring as well. Also, my friend Caroline Marks is one of my favorite people to surf with because she is always stoked and one of the most positive people I know.
My Favorite Places/Destinations?
One of my favorite places in the world would be Playa Colorados, Nicaragua. It is an amazing barrel beach break. The winds are always offshore and the waves are perfect a good amount of the time. The vibes there are awesome and the people are really nice. I always stay with Mateo Blevvins @nicatime and we go on boat trips and score amazing waves. Puerto Rico has also been one of my go to travel places because of the awesome waves and beautiful water. I stay with Josie and Maria Graves at Ocean Avenue Guest House.
My Favorite Products/Objects?
My number one tool I use in surfing is my surfboard, which is on Orion. He shapes them personally for me in Edgewater, Florida and he always does an amazing job. Oneill clothing does a great job at keeping me in the most fashionable and functional clothes and bikinis, while I’m at the beach. Also, my number one go to snack in between long surf sessions would have to be Oh Yeah! One Bars Almond Bliss flavor, which tastes like an Almond Joy just way better for you.
My Current Passions?
Surfing is my number one passion and I spend a lot of my free time looking at surf videos and contests to learn as much as I can. Since I’m injured right now, I’m tapping back into my past passions that didn’t require me to be moving all the time, like my education and music. I really enjoy learning and am proud to be able to have a quality education. Also, I’ve always loved singing and I used to play the piano all the time, so I’ve been practicing that more lately.
