What do you do best?
I am goal-oriented and I have a talent for managing complex situations. I also take pride in my ability to get all involved parties to support the effort.
What makes you the best?
I have the ability to remain personable and level-headed in all situations. This allows me to work with people while still maintaining the perspective needed to make tough decisions when required.
What are your aspirations?
I enjoy helping others with personal development and growth. For the past 20 years, I have been a volunteer soccer referee with the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) so I’ve seen how the actions of others can influence the way people develop and grow.
This has helped keep me grounded, it allows me to reflect on my own actions and it inspires me to always be a source of positivity for others.
I aspire to always be the best and most trusted partner, vendor, customer, etc. I believe that if you do the right thing then good things will happen to you.
My biggest success is raising a happy family with my wife. We have two boys and a girl who make us very proud. Their joy, success, etc. make every effort meaningful.
Most Challenging Moment?
A few years ago, we got so close to selling our company that we took a number of steps that in retrospect could have been catastrophic. At the time, the potential for reward seemed worth the risk and losing everything in the process had such a low probability that we simply ignored it. Unfortunately, the impossible happened and the deal was terminated at the last moment without notice. What I learned in the process is that regardless of how desirable and blinding the reward may appear, you always need to protect against the downside.
Good things will follow your conscientious actions.
Favorite People/Role Models?
Sir Richard Branson is an inspiration to me. He embodies everything that I aspire to be as a person and as a leader and he inspires me to aim higher in life. As a self-made billionaire, Sir Richard has always fought adversity and learned from his failures and successes. He believes in people and allows his employees to flourish. This perspective has enabled him to create multiple organizations that rely on good people doing good things and it is exemplified in the following quote. “As long as you are surrounded by the people you love and doing what you love, it really doesn't matter where you are." What is amazing is that through it all he seems to have stayed humble without any sign of arrogance or entitlement.
I visited Italy around 30 years ago and I cannot seem to forget the sights and sounds of Rome. The whole city seemed to be alive and it was as if everyone knew one another. I was mesmerized and I’ll never forget it. Since then, I have traveled to many places that have sparked a similar feeling, but nothing has replaced my memory of Rome.
I am fascinated by drones and how they are being used for so many different things like reaching remote areas. There are a lot of technologies used to make this small object into an effective tool and I’m excited to see the new applications. Tesla cars are also amazing as the innovations show us a potential path to a future with a cleaner environment.
I am passionate about soccer as I have spent 20 years as a referee for the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO). I enjoy seeing the kids learn about the sport and watching them become good citizens. It brings comfort in knowing that our deeds matter.
