What do I do best?

I help leaders and organizations avoid disasters through speaking and consulting on decision-making and emotional and social intelligence

What makes me the best version of myself?

I prioritize avoiding going with my gut and instead evaluating any situation carefully and thoroughly to ensure that I can achieve the outcomes that align with my goals and aspirations.

What are my aspirations?

My personal goals are to help shift our society away from the path of misinformation and fake news that is destorying the value of trust so crucial for our future. My business goals are to use consulting and speaking on decision-making and emotional and social intelligence for organizations and leaders to fund my social goals.

My Biggest Success?

My biggest success has been collaborating with my business partner and spouse successfully since our marriage in 2003. It’s wonderful to watch our relationship develop and grow, as we develop and grow together.

My Most Challenging Moment?

When facing a choice between investing into my academic career or focusing on popularizing decision-making and emotional and social intelligence for a broad audience, I made the tough choice to turn back from academia and focus on being a science communicator. It was difficult to make that decision, but I used the research-based methods that I learned about in academia to make sure that I aligned my values with my activities, and never regretted my choice.

My Motto?

The only things under my control are my thoughts, behaviors, and feelings.

My Favorite People/Role Models?

My role models are Peter Singer, Howard Ross, and Steven Pinker

My Favorite Places/Destinations?

I greatly enjoy where I live right now, Columbus, OH. For travel, I like quiet mountainous areas.

My Favorite Products/Objects?

My favorite objects are e-book readers. So much knowledge in such a small  and convenient device! You can fit a whole library in there.

My Current Passions?

My passion is the Pro-Truth Pledge project at ProTruthPledge.org, which gives people who are frustrated with the climate of misinformation and fake news a way of making a meaningful difference to improve the world.
