Sarah Sulzberger Perpich: Personal Stylist & Fashion Consultant

This year marks my sweet 21rst year working in the various aspects of the multi-faceted fashion industry. While I have worked for many recognized designers and fashion publications, I continue to come back to my passion for personal styling. I began my career interning as a writer and stylist with former fashion editor, Amy Spindler and former Fashion Director, Anne Christensen. My experience at the New York Times Fashion Magazine (Fashion Of The Times) kick-started my love affair, passion, and dedication to a lifelong career in the fashion world. I have worked in fashion editorial on and off, writing, and styling models and celebrities for publications such as The New York Times, WWD and Salon News, V Magazine, and, (among many more), but after working for four years as a personal shopper for Bloomingdales and Henri Bendel, I realized that my true passion lies with real women on the sidewalks, not models on the pages of magazines. Wanting to fulfill my clients’ needs from a 360 degree approach, in 2009, I made the decision to branch out on my own – thus, the birth of StylishSarah – my own personal styling and fashion consultancy.

I’ve been lucky enough to work in house with designers like Zac Posen and with renowned editors such as Dirk Standon of, Sophia Chabbot and Arthur Friedman of WWD, and photographer Bill Cunningham. I am a proud member of both The Couture Council of the Museum at FIT and All Walks Beyond the Catwalk. You can also find me on the Fashion Police page in UsWeekly magazine. These valuable experiences allowed me to cultivate the comprehensive skill set that I now apply to personal styling.

What do you love most about Your City?

The Fashion On The Streets. Bill Cunningham mentored and then became one of my closest friends and he always told me that fashion lives on the streets. When I walk around I look at shoes, handbags, coats and belts. I once told someone I see clothes not people and they asked if I was crazy-maybe just a bit.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

I’m a member at Equinox that has a great spa-like eatery. I have a massive protein shake with tons of fruit. The more berries the better.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Kickboxing with my personal trainer. I love it because if I’m frustrated, anxious, or mad I can take it all out on the bag or my trainer (he prefers the bag). Then I start Checking out Instagram.

10:00 AM - At Bergdorf Goodman or Saks pre-pulling for a client who’s closet I cleaned out about 80% the night before. I walk around the store like I have antennae picking clothes for them to fill in the missing pieces. I end up with  3-4 racks of clothes. I cover the store  in just under 4hrs-all 7 floors.

12:00 PM - Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?

ABC V. I’m not a vegetarian but you must try their grain bowls and avocado lettuce cups.

7:00 PM - Off to meet a friend for dinner. You can’t beat the Branzino At Saint Ambrose. Checking Instagram (sense a pattern)??

11:00 PM – Sleeping like a baby

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

I don’t drink caffeine because I’m incredibly enthusiastic and hyper naturally so I would say I drink Pellegrino like it’s a 40 oz malt liquor. I’m also obsessed with BAI Coconut water.

How many? I drink all day long though I never feel I’ve had enough.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

Too hard to choose because I’m slightly Ok definitely addicted to Instagram  but possibly @Sainthoax

What should everyone try at least once?
