My Goal of the day: Put a smile on somebody’s face

My Thought of the day: Every minute counts!

My Action of the day: Make a bunch of high quality decisions that can empower our team to go execute

What do you love most about Your City?

Auburn is 30,000 people so we get 90% of California’s weather and 0% of the traffic, but we still pay 100% of the taxes.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

Peanut butter smoothie. But if I have a breakfast meeting, Awful Annie’s in Auburn is a great spot.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – I’ve checked the overnight numbers, read some Twitter and triaged email a bit. I’m jumping on the Peloton bike for a high intensity interval ride before hitting the shower and heading to work. On Auburn weeks, I try to take my kids to school 3-4 days a week on my way into the office.

10:00 AM – 10AM is my favorite time for first meeting of the day — email up to date, list ready to go, ready to make great decisions with the team!

12:00 PM - Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

Lunch is almost always at my desk. It gives me a few minutes to read, think and plan the afternoon. I also do a lot of lunch meetings in the office, which stretches the time I can spend with the team.

7:00 PM -  On my Auburn weeks, I’m home for dinner with my wife and kids. On my travel weeks, I’m probably at dinner with a customer.

11:00 PM – I’ve been asleep for a solid half hour! I shoot for sleeping from 10:30pm to 5am, and I do whatever I can to avoid changing time zones on my travel weeks. I’ll work in my hotel room until 1:30am and get up at 8am on the east coast, if the schedule allows.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

My staff thinks I chain-drink Coke Zero. But I only go through two or three a day. :) I mix it up with some Propel Water and Fresca as well.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

Twitter, for sure. My favorite Instagram account these days is @a_t_l_a_n_t_a, which delivers beautiful shots of the Atlanta skyline that usually include the Bank of America Plaza building, which houses our office there.

What should everyone try at least once?

Truly listening to the perspective of someone they completely disagree with, and trying to step into their shoes. It may not change your opinion, but it’ll definitely change your outlook.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

Deep in the details of a product meeting with my team. I’m really passionate about what we do to empower ordinary people to invest fearlessly and achieve their financial dreams.
