My NativeAdVert:

Elizabeth Saltzman is a film editor, storyteller, and recent graduate of the American Film Institute, currently working as a Post Production Assistant for Lucasfilm. She received her BA in Cinema Studies from Oberlin College in 2013, during which time she spent a summer term at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, cutting on a Steinbeck, and a winter term at Prague Film School. She received her MFA in Film Editing from the AFI Conservatory in 2017, cutting six short narrative films and two thesis films.

Elizabeth has held numerous internships at several production companies and worked as an Executive Assistant. She then became the Development and Marketing Associate for River City Brass, a professional brass band in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for whom she produced and edited commercial spots and promotional videos. After moving back to Los Angeles for her Master’s, she spent a summer working as an Assistant Editor at a trailer house.

Elizabeth has most recently worked as a Post Production Assistant on two features and is an editor for Look What SHE Did!, a collection of videos spotlighting women talking about other inspirational women throughout history. She also continues cutting short films in her spare time. Elizabeth is an avid tennis player and moviegoer, and currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

My Goal of the Day: Try to do at least one good thing for someone else to brighten up their day.

My Thought of the Day: Practice compassion and patience.

My Action of the Day: Working on a side project after work to keep my editing skills sharp. I’m lucky that my full time job is always inspiring, as I get to learn from incredibly talented filmmakers, but it’s also the fun side hustles that continue reminding me how much I love what I do!

My Deed of the Day: Donating to my work’s annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.

My Tip of the Day: Set Waze to avoid freeways during rush hours. It always takes twenty minutes longer than it originally calculates. And wireless headphones are WORTH. IT.

My Pic of the Day:

The view today from the roof of where I work. I try to never take living in California for granted!

A Day in My Life:

What do you love most about Your City? Aside from the weather, the proximity to the ocean, the incredible diversity, the hub of people so passionate about filmmaking, the countless options for food… I’d have to say the people and the outstanding movie theaters.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant? I’m a ride-or-die instant oatmeal kind of gal, always paired with a coffee and a glass of water. I also dig the omelets and cappuccinos at Figaro Bistrot in Los Feliz. There’s seldom a wait and always supreme dog-watching.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Zzzzzzzzz. I usually start my day around 7am or so.

10:00 AM – Working, or if it’s the weekend, sweating it out at Pop Physique.

12:00 PM - Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

A big salad. I’m a vegetable fiend. I’m lucky that my work provides lunch. But if it’s Saturday, you know I’m at Galanga Thai in West Hollywood. They’ve got the best lunch specials, and we’ve reached a point in our relationship where I’ll walk in and nod hello, and suddenly my order is in front of me. I love them. They are amazing. I look forward to that meal all week.

7:00 PM -  Working, assisting the editorial team with whatever they may need, and making sure everyone is fed. On the weekend, spending time with my boo and friends or getting cozy and putting on a movie.

11:00 PM – Winding down from the day. Getting comfortable with a good book or Netflix.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)? Always coffee to start the day and a second cup after lunch, especially if I know I’ll be working out in the evening. And water!

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

Definitely either Waze (hello, Commute!) or Instagram/the Apple News app.

What should everyone try at least once?

Acupuncture.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

The parking garage at the Landmark. Just kidding. In thoughts, a good conversation, a compelling story…
