Kira Willey is an award-winning children’s music artist, kids’ yoga & mindfulness expert, speaker, and creator of Rockin’ Yoga school programs. Kira’s four releases of yoga albums for kids have all won numerous industry awards and earned national acclaim; her hit songs include “Colors,” which was featured in a worldwide Dell ad campaign. Her most recent release is Every Voice, winner of Parents’ Choice Gold, that Foundation’s highest award. Kira’s TEDx talk, “Bite-Sized Mindfulness,” can be viewed online, and her children’s mindfulness book, “Breathe Like a Bear,” was published in December; it’s been published into eight foreign languages so far. PBS TV affiliates nationwide air several different yoga-for-kids programs Kira created and hosts; and her “Music You Can Move To” series with kids’ music superstar Laurie Berkner can be heard daily on SiriusXM Radio.

Kira leads Professional Development days for teachers, conducts music and yoga workshops, speaks at education conferences, and performs Rockin’ Yoga School Assemblies and Concerts with her band nationwide. She also leads the River Valley Choir, plays fiddle in the bluegrass band Moonshine & Millet, and is a founder of the area’s new singing-is-for-everyone experience, Pop-Up Choir!

What do you love most about Your City?

Its diversity.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

Le Pain Quotidien in New York City—green juice, soft-boiled egg, and chocolate croissant.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Thinking about getting up. I don’t actually do it until about 6:20.

10:00 AM - Creating: working on a song, writing an article, or tweaking a new training or program.

12:00 PM - Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

Home. Leftovers, usually soup. Boring, but it makes me happy.

7:00 PM -  Having dinner with my family, or driving one of my kids to soccer/track practice/karate/you name it.

11:00 PM - Sleeping, hopefully.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

Tea! Black with honey in the morning, Throat Coat before singing or performing, ginger late in the day, peppermint in the evening.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

Headspace. I love that guy’s voice.

What should everyone try at least once?

Yoga. There’s a flavor for everyone.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

In a far-away city, like Barcelona.
