What do I do best?

I am a great connector. I love people. Bringing like-minded people together, watching them help each other and making a difference in their lives brings me so much joy. Relationships both online and offline are extremely meaningful to me and I make an incredible effort to reach out and connect with others. In the process I am pretty good at inspiring positive change both in myself and those I surround myself with.

What makes me the best version of myself?

It’s a tie between consistency and perseverance. When I make a decision on something I never give up. What has made me most successful is not going fast nor being aggressive or pushy, but plodding along and persevering with my goals despite obstacles and hard times. And just believing in myself.

What are my aspirations?

My personal goals are to move through life with happiness and contentment in good health. I am now reaching 50 years old and have had many different phases in my life and many experiences. The goals and aspirations have changed many times. For the next phase of my life I am watching my kids “fly the coop” and move forward with their own lives. It is not easy for a mom to “let go”, particularly since we will all be geographically so far away (Parents in Hong Kong, kids in Los Angeles). So, finding that contentment and happiness without close family will be my next challenge.

My business goals are to continue to inspire as many people as I possibly can to make positive change in their lives both online and offline. Short term goals for HackMyAge.com is to grow the social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) to a million followers within the next 2 years. I also will be creating more eBooks, online programs, looking for good brands/products to share and hosting seminars and speaking events while collaborating with more influencers in the health and wellness industry. My ambitions are to move from small seminars of 20 – 30 people to leading large scale events of 1,000 to 10,000 participants within the next 2 years.

As the aging population grows, we will be seeing more of a focus on extending healthspan and lifespan. It’s the age of the “superagers” as we see more and more people in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond leading incredibly active lives and looking and feeling much younger than their chronological age. There is no doubt I am helping to pioneer this age.

My Biggest Success?

It’s so cliché to say my biggest success is raising a healthy, balanced and happy family. But it’s true. I am very proud of this and have dedicated my life to my family, so it is great to see the fruits of my labor.

Outside of this, my most recent success is the launch of my first online program – The Longevity Master Plan. It is the culmination of over 20 years of research to teach people how to extend their healthspan, which is the number of years spent looking and feeling in your prime, generally healthy and free from serious disease.

My Most Challenging Moment?

My most challenging times have been dealing with loss. I lost my mother to breast cancer when I was only in my early 20s. My father died of heart disease 10 years after that and most recently last November I lost my best friend.

Anytime one deals with loss and the pain that goes with it, our lives are seriously impacted and we learn how to have a different perspective on life (and death), priorities change and we hopefully start living the life we really want to live. We understand a little more clearly the meaning “life is short”.

My Motto?

Growing old is optional

My Favorite People/Role Models?

Oprah Winfrey. She grew up with all the disadvantages – poverty, abuse, racism, rejection, yet overcame all the odds to become one of the most powerful women in the world. She is an incredible leader and extremely successful, yet touches people as if they were her own neighbor. She shows empathy, compassion and love to so many around the world no matter what race, gender or social economic status.

Oprah is an incredibly intelligent person who has gone above and beyond to inspire women, men and children to become the best version of themselves. I admire Oprah for both her personal integrity and business savvy.

My Favorite Places/Destinations?

I have traveled to over 50 countries around the world and lived in 8 of them. There are many places I would love to visit again. If I have to choose one, it’s Marbella, Spain. It was the longest place I ever lived in (9 years). It’s where I raised my children, have family and made great friends. The weather (over 320 days of sunshine per year) is what brings the people to this part of the world, but the warm friendly locals and the laidback lifestyle are what keeps them there.

My Favorite Products/Objects?

I am a person who does not accumulate things. I have a less is more attitude. That being said, I do love trying new products and gadgets that “make me age slower”, with the intention of passing them on…or recommending them, to others if I believe it will make them happy.

My latest obsession is the LumiSpa - a new facial cleansing gadget that deep cleans and stimulates collagen to firm your skin and smooth texture. It’s AgeLoc technology, which means that the research has proven it affects your gene expression in a positive state. It reminds me of when the electrical toothbrush arrived…with the timer and rotating heads it forces you to clean your face well.

My Current Passions?

My passion has always been researching aging and traveling. I love combining the two. When I meet anyone from a simple 90 year-old man in Bhutan to a leading neuroscientist in London, I am fascinated by the stories they tell, their research or life experiences and what makes them “tick”. I document all my experiences and research in writing, video and photography.
