What’s the best way someone has responded to your artwork

I began my series of feminist portraiture in 2016: First in this series was a painting of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. In partnership with feminist and muse Diana Kane we made the RBG portrait into a wearable pin, which Diana sells in her Brooklyn Boutique. The pin has reached a lot of people and was even worn by Madonna at the 2017 Women’s March. In 2019 I received a handwritten thank you note from RBG herself. During my professional career, I have always painted women and have always been a feminist. The appreciation of this work and my perspective is very meaningful to me.F

I took this on a recent weekend trip to San Diego – this moment watching surfers under a gorgeous sunset at one of my favorite spots ever was truly stunning.

A Day in My Life:

What do you love most about Your City?

I’ve been in –between Los Angeles and New York City lately – and I love both cities for the reasons that they balance each other out. I enjoy the hustle and street smarts NYC has to offer, while also love the access to nature and chiller vibes of LA.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

For my daily breakfast, I love a natural granola with English Breakfast tea with honey and almond milk. If I were to eat out – my go-to choice a Taiwanese breakfast place that’s in my hometown Hacienda Heights called 4 Sea Restaurant – it’s got rice rolls, radish cakes, and all sorts of soy milk.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – Sleeping, hopefully, until 7 or 8. On a productive day, I’m writing.

10:00 AM – Have finished my breakfast and either at a surf session, or working and checking off my list.

12:00 PM - Favorite Lunch spot/meal?

A healthy, super leafy salad with a delicious fruit smoothie hits the spot.

7:00 PM - If I’m not finishing up work, then I’m either out with a close friend having good conversation over dinner, making dinner at home, or checking out a sunset over the sea.

11:00 PM – Watching an addicting show or movie, with a glass of wine.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

Water – and lots of it.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

I’ve been frequenting Redfin lately. On Instagram: @theoceanisfemale and @girlgaze

What should everyone try at least once?

Moving somewhere far and drastically different from home – gaining perspective is the richest experience.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

In a different country whilst travelling, in the midst of nature.
