Alexis Strum is a British Jewish comedian, writer and actress who hosts and produces, ‘The Funny Women Survival Guide’ podcast, in which she chats to comedy’s funniest females about how they’re coping during the pandemic. Alexis had so many almost moments in her career in the entertainment industry, that she launched a live comedy storytelling night called, ‘The Time I Almost…’ where comedians come onstage and share their 'Sliding Doors' stories and get some much needed 'closure'. Career highlights include interviewing her idol Pamela Adlon, almost playing the part of Matt LeBlanc’s wife in, ‘Man With A Plan ‘ and nearly becoming an internationally mega-famous popstar. A fun fact about Alexis is that she wrote some of the music to MTV’s hit series, ‘Teen Wolf’ as well as ‘The Inbetweeners’. She is currently learning how to use TikTok and writing her comedy memoir, 'The Time I Almost...'.

My Joke of the Day:

Most common Quarantine Activity:

Weeping in different rooms of the house, stalking ex partners online to make sure they are at least 65% unhappier without me and NOT working out. I am using my Power Climber as a clothes rack…SO glad I invested in that.

Favorite Quarantine show/movie:

I recently discovered ‘Broad City’- WTF was I doing with my life this whole time? And most importantly, why didn’t I have anywhere near as much fun as Abbi and Ilana when I was in my twenties? All I remember is alphabetising my CDs and learning how to make a pivot table in Excel. I also recommend any films without sex scenes due to the fact that as a single parent in lockdown I have had to force myself to believe that sex no longer exists- it’s kinder and otherwise I would just have to find more rooms in the house to weep in. So, lots of documentaries about Lego and mass murderers it is then…

Favorite Instagram accounts:

(disclaimer: I’m scared to put anyone in this climate in case they’re cancelled by the time this goes online, but here goes…)

@saturdaynightseder which was an amazing lifeline when I had to spend my first Passover alone this year.

@daisymaycooper for her insane TikToks

@lizzobeeating because of her excellence and flute playing

@peacefulbarb for my sanity.

Oh and @mindykaling – I am not entirely sure why we are not BFF’s yet but it needs to happen and soon!

Favorite quarantine meal & drink:

I’ve been having weird ‘rona cravings for Turkish food- I can’t get enough of it-  I love ordering lamb shish and kofte with heaps of chilli sauce. 100 days of lockdown and I am so bored of my own cooking- I peaked as a chef in week 3. Since then I’ve been rebelling and mainlining basic bitch food such as supernoodles and poptarts. I drink a LOT of coffee- I have those fancy Starbucks pods you can use at home and try to recreate the 'live' experience by spelling my name wrong on the cup and refusing to tell myself where the spoons are.

Most Questionable thing you’ve seen or heard recently…

I’m still not convinced about the ‘Shewee’ and as for the Flat Earthists, well, FFS, guys, I think it’s time we had a little chat…

First thing you’ll do once isolation is over...

Lose my Covid-ginity.
