Nashville-based, queer indie pop artist daena is on a mission - to explore love, truth and vulnerability through her music. Following her summer single “Heart Heat”, she returned this fall with “Just the Girl”, her take on The Click Five’s explosive early 00’s hit. daena not only flips the script to bring a queer perspective to the song, but leans into the bittersweet lyrics with her intimate vocals, soft 90s synths and sparkling electric guitars.
daena’s songs have been placed on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds” and “Night Pop” editorial playlists, featured on iHeart Radio, Nashville’s Lightning 100, Today in Nashville, + more. Her single "Close Isn't Enough" has organically amassed over half a million Spotify streams. daena’s plans to release more new original music in 2022.
As a queer woman, daena hopes to be a role model for other young people in the community. “It’s important to help normalize all queer relationships and identities,” daena says. “I hope that my music can encourage listeners to be true to who they are - and proud of it - no matter where they are in their journey of self-discovery and love”.

Early this fall I released a cover of "Just the Girl" by The Click Five! If you're a zillennial like me, you grew up on this pop punk Radio Disney classic. I decided to make it my own and give it a soft, vibey, queer spin. It's streaming everywhere now! Check it out: https://ffm.to/justthegirl
