Hi Mauve! Great to speak with you again. Congrats on your latest release “And I’m Okay”. Would you be able to tell us what this song is about?
This song is about the relief that washes over you when you finally accept that everything happens for a reason, even in the case of a relationship ending. Before, you wouldn’t be able to imagine your life without this person because you always had this set image in your head that you were supposed to be together. But when that person moves on and your relationship ends, it can take a long time for you to come to that place where you realize you just weren’t meant to be together. And that’s okay. You don’t need to have all the answers on what is going to happen next, but you come to a point where you are strong standing on your own.
That’s awesome. We see you released a music video for this song as well. Can you tell us the story line for the music video and how it connects to the song?
The music video shows the contrasts between the positive times that a boy and a girl spent together, and the negative times of that relationship. You see the girl driving and revisiting all of the places her and this boy used to hang out together, as she starts to recall the memories of the times they spent there. The girl realizes that she no longer needs to hold on to those bad memories of her time with the boy and she is happy and confident being on her own. She’s moved on and is able to enjoy her freedom now.
How was it filming the music video?
It was so much fun! Really cool having the fancy red car for the shoot with the top down. I’ve never been in a convertible before so it was such a great experience going down the long roads and feeling the wind in your hair. It was really interesting seeing the set up required for the cameras as we had to mount and secure them on the hood of the car to get the shots. It was really nice being able to see the final results after all the amazing work the whole team put into filming.
