How did you get into the hotel industry?
I always knew I wanted to be in the hospitality industry; I majored in hospitality in college and worked two jobs (hotel and restaurant) to decide what part of the hospitality business I wanted to be a part of. While I loved the fast paced nature of restaurant work, the glamour and sophistication of hotels won me over.
2. Define Success. What does Success mean to you?
Success is getting where you strive to be; it is a constant evolution of attaining your goals. When it comes to success there is no end, nor should there be. Reaching one goal provides the platform to step up and work toward the next.
3. What is your favorite travel destination?
Paris .The city is an inspiration to live well. The architecture, the fashion, the gardens, the cafes. Everything is so romantic, so elegant. As Audrey Hepburn once said, "Paris is always a good idea."
4. What is your most successful marketing strategy?
To keep ahead of the ever changing marketing platforms.
5. Do you utilize social media and to what capacity?
We utilize social media to engage with our current guests and expose ourselves to potential new guests.
6. How do you differentiate your brand from all other luxury hotels?
We try not to be someone we are not. We have been in Palm Beach since the 20’s and are very well established. Guests stay with us and know we are traditional, historic, classic Palm Beach. The hotel, built in 1926, boasts a pedigree as a favorite of celebrities, power players, media moguls and socialites from Gary Cooper and Greta Garbo to Amelia Hearst and Marjorie Merriweather Post. The hotel also heralds architecture by Rosario Candela, a famous New York architect. The Brazilian Court in a perennial award winner, from Conde Nast Travelerand Travel + Leisure to Fodors and AAA, and we feel that the numerous accolades truly speak for themselves.
7. Have you found "co-branding" successful and in what way?
Co-branding has been successful for us as it has allowed us to align with like companies outside of our field and gain exposure to new audiences. We recently partnered with Lilly Pulitzer for a social media co-brand, a partnership that made perfect sense for us given the brand’s long and storied history in Palm Beach.
8. What’s next for your hotel?
As with any success, we continue to evolve - one will have to wait and see.
9. Who is your role model, either living or past, whose beliefs you would like to emulate?
My mother. She instilled in me all the core values and taught me how to be a strong woman. I emulate her work ethic.
10. What reading material is on your bed stand?
"Goodnight Moon," thanks to my children. It is the perfect bedtime story — it's about a child saying goodnight to everything around; "Goodnight room. Goodnight moon. Goodnight cow jumping over the moon. Goodnight light, and the red balloon…"
